I am a little perplexed by the Amazon Reviewer on a number of issues. Firstly, I presume the reviewer means "Push the Limits" not "Push Out the Limits." Hardly bodes well for a review if the reviewer can't even be bothered to pick up the CD case to check he (she) knows what he (she) is talking about! Secondly, as has already been mentioned, anything worth doing in music has already been done - nothing these days is even remotely original. Thirdly, it is deeply unfair, not mention wholly untrue, to describe ambient music as not having any "beat." There's plenty of rhythm and beat in Engima's music, this album included.
Anyway, as for the This CD, I have to say I love it but then I am a big fan of Enigma. 'Push the Limits', 'Gravity of ... Read More:

I felt compelled to write a review to defend this album since many people are negative and dismissive about it. In contrast to these people I have always felt that "Garlands" was one of the Cocteau Twin's strongest releases.
I am immediately struck by the haunting atmosphere, the icy sounding guitars, the dark snake-like bass lines, the cold percussion and Liz Fraser's weird yet beautiful vocals. Though you could probably guess when the recording was made it still holds up as a unique and special piece of work. The guitar work in particular is spectacular - minimal, intense and brooding.
The Cocteau Twins slowly changed with each album and later releases are considerably more accessible to newcomers. There are no doubt people ... Read More:

Like the man (top 10 reviewer) says, this is something special. This is Eno's finest example of ambient, which he invented. Rebelling against the music everywhere, the "used to sell strategy" enlisted by those wanting to sell us things we don't even know if we want. These sounds are not designed to wrap you in cotton wool but to enable you to take yourself somewhere. It's a trip without the side effects, put it on headphones or fill a room and just sit there. Each listen will be different, you will drift off and you will find yourself along some pathway that makes the sounds irrelevant. It is an aid to thinking.

Given that 'best of...' compilations are normally a collection of a group's most popular single releases, and thus a reflection of chart success, Delerium's offering sits a little oddly. Indeed, Delerium are founded upon an intriguing dual identity of mainstream dance remixes and decidedly non-mainstream ethnic/Gothic album productions that presents a difficult balancing act to replicate in this traditional format. Yet somehow they have succeeded in pulling this off, balancing some less well-known classics from their albums with new remixes of popular dance tracks. The result is a good mix of tracks ranging from the now eponymous dance anthem 'Silence' to classic instrumental album tracks such as 'Remembrance', spanning the early Gothic darkness of 'Semantic Spaces' ... Well, I've only been listening to this album for a day now and I already love it. Although its not the Orb's best album (a la U.F.Orb), it has some quality tracks on it e.g. the big beats of Ubiquity, the techno-ness of Asylum, the bounciness of Toxygene (which wasn't commisioned from Jean Michel Jarre, that was just a joke made by the band). Also, the album has an obvious oriental quality to it, which also helps me like it because I like parts of Chinese/Japanese music. If you're an Orb fan add it to your collection, if you haven't heard them try U.F.Orb or Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld first, and if you don't like them then...what are you reading this for? Buy and Bye.

Eno and Fripp developed a tape loop feedback system to apply to the guitar work of Robert Fripp. This recording shows the system off to its maximum potential and consists of two long tracks that explore a soundscape entirely invented by their unique musical talents. Swooping guitar sounds combine with synthesised textures in what can sometimes begin to feel very dense. There is a lot of detail in the treatments as well and these maintain the listeners interest. Despite the age of the record it does bear repeated listenings and my copy gets a regular airing at home. An essential Fripp & Eno recording and one of the better examples of Fripp's work.

You could say an awful lot about this album, about the varying musical styles, tempos, spoken word parts, soundscapes, etc, etc. You could go on all day and many more eloquent and gifted reviewers have done so. I just wanted to put in my two pen'orth. This is without doubt the most beautiful album I have ever had the privelege to listen to! It is reminiscent of certain other artists, such as Eno, but it is different and unique. The Japanese background is inescapable and entrancing. Basically I think when Yokota wrote this he was touched by transcendent genius, he produced something that even by his sky-high standards is extraordinary! Every now and again an artist/group produces a moment of seminal genius and truly groundbreaking innovation (Slayer's 'Reign in Blood', Fairport Convention's ... Read More:
