One of the most significant ambient albums of the nineties, Orbus Terrarum represents a journey across a landscape in the form of sound, with each track signifying a different terrain feature. The journey begins in the lush, dense ravine of 'Valley', with it's heavy rolling bass, gradually rising up into the airy, open spaces of 'Plateau', before descending again into the aquatic chimes of 'Oxbow Lakes'. The 'landscape as sound' theme is seemingly abandoned toward the end of the album, with an epic dub workout, 'Slug Dub', instead providing the finale, with humourous, if slightly sinister samples of a childrens' story about lettuce being eaten by 'nasty' slugs. Quite different from all the Orb's other albums, but definitely a classic.

Perhaps conscious that fans were wondering what could follow "Zeit", which hadn't exactly got rave reviews, the band opened with something quite dazzling and stupendous. "Atem" means `breath', that's how it opens, with wind rushing through some vast cavern, like the breath of a wakening giant. Any thought of Space music is left at the post, for this is far more vigorous, exciting, and downright exotic than anything on the previous album. Chris Franke has a fair old thrash on tom toms, pounding away frenetically above Froese's blaze of mellotron, punctuated by the odd electronic explosion. It's like some huge panoramic Egyptian scene; "music to build the pyramids by" said Julian Cope, and for once he's not exaggerating. One of Tangerine Dream's best openings, ... Read More:

I hadn't really heard any of Air's previous work before I watched 'The Virgin Suicides' but after hearing the haunting soundtrack and the eerie melodies that were so fitting to the film I just had to go out and buy this. It is captivating within itself and is an album that truly makes you think. As a soundtrack it works very well as it is filled with haunting tracks that just make you want to listen again and again.
It will take you back to poignant times in your life and really make you think. I find the tracks so haunting and deep that while listening to them you can really reflect on your emotions and feelings. Although it can sound rather sinister in places it is filled with beautiful tracks which upon listening to reveal their darker themes. A very ... Read More:

I've only just got round to buying 10'000HZ Legend, but I'm so glad I did.
This album is a slight departure from Moon Safari. This is more experimental, darker, and somewhat inconsistent in places. Therefore; in my opinion; not every track works. However, the ones that do - work extremely well and there are some great moments here.
"Electronic Performers" opens the album well, it's a Kraftwerk-esque electronic bleeps and beats with electronically processed vocals. But for me; by far the best track on the album; is "How does it make you feel?". This "pink floyd-ish" track drifts in beautifully, with wonderful lyrics giving a sense of bleak loneliness.
As I said before, there are some awesome moments here, but there are some dodgy ones too. ... Read More:

I have loved this album since it was released. It is sounds strange the first time it is heard. If you like it will become part of your life and part of your soul.
I saw the Penguin Cafe Orchestra play at Islington Union Chapel in 2007 when they played three concerts. It was one of the most astounding concerts I have seen. The atmosphere was electric with excitement that was shared by both the audience and the players alike.
The music was, apparently, created by Penguin Cafe's founding member so that he and his friends could meet and share a common interest. Not many works are created for nine musicians from very different disciplines; two violins, a cello, a saxophone, an oboe, pianist and trash percussion. The musicians obviously love playing ... THE best Slowdive album. Way ahead of it's time. Some of it reminds me of Talk Talk, some of Labradford! Absolutely stunning it's an overlooked classic.

For those who are wondering, a tangram is a puzzle made up of different shaped pieces. There, that's out of the way.
Tangerine Dream entered a new decade with a new band member, Johannes Schmoelling, a new look and a new sound.
After Peter Baumann left the group in 1977, Tangerine Dream had experimented with prog (Cyclone) and had made something of a masterpiece (Force Majeure). However, the line up situation had been a touch turbulent, so some sort of stability was required. In Schmoelling, they had recruited a classically trained musician, who would remain with the group for half a decade and help them record some of their most interesting and consistently entertaining work.
'Tangram' shows Tangerine Dream returning to their roots a bit, and injecting it with a modern electronic ... Read More:

How can i put what i feel about this CD into words?
i am absolutely spellbound!! i have never heard anything of the likes of this. by far the best CD i have ever bought, Rumi's poetry itself is beyond this world, but the music and instruments used in this CD are perfect to accompany such sweet words of Rumi's love for God.
Hazrat Inayat Khan once said "when the soul is tuned to God, every action becomes music"
Rumi is a fountain of knowledge, the stream of love which poured from his heart, has been re-united and brought back, to give us a taste of the water of life, which he so eloquently spoke about.
"A life time without love is of no accord, love is the water of life, drink it down with heart and Soul" ~Rumi~
you do not need to be a lover of music, ... Read More:

Force Majeure is without doubt one of Tangerine Dream's finest albums if not their finest. It's certainly the best album of the band's 1970s output.
After experimenting with a singer on the previous year's 'Cyclone', the group returned to a trio and played to their musical strengths.
The title track opens the album and what a number it is. It brings together everything that Tangerine Dream are about. Moody, atmospheric soundscapes, memorable melodies and a decent rhythmn section. It's twenty minutes of sheer excellence and moves along at an awesome pace.
'Cloudburst Flight' is, to these ears anyway, the best 'short' number the band have ever recorded. A moody, acoustic guitar led opening is broken by synthesizers and then the drums kick in and Edgar Froese gets to enjoy himself with some breathtaking ... Read More:
