R.E.M's new single "animal" is well worth the money. The song itself is one of their best for years. The B-sides are reasonable, a live version of "Pretty Persuation" and a live video of Losing my Religion from the Weisbaden concert during their 2003 world tour. This video however is contained on the "Perfect Square" concert DVD.

Although it is often regarded by some as one of Iggy s weaker albums I disagree I think that it holds up very well today .It is full of catchy tunes and the production is excellent . Although some would say that it is not full of classics it has great songs like knockin em down and i'm a conservative . My personal favourite is the Glen Matlock written ambition which I would put in Iggys top five songs of all time .

The best songs on Tragic Kingdom were Don't Speak, Just a Girl and Sunday Morning. On Return of Saturn at least half the Songs are as good as any of those three; Suspension without Suspense is better than Don't Speak, Ex-Girlfriend is better than Just a Girl, and Bathwater is better than Sunday Morning. Then you have New, Comforting Lie, Dark Blue, Artificial Sweetner, Too Late, Simple Kind of Life, Magics in the Makeup - all of which are just as good as anything on TK.
Simply based on the number of 'classic' songs, this album is The Daddy. I recently made a compilation CD of the best of ND (and I have everything they've ever released) - 10 out of 19 songs were from this album.

I'm really writing a review of Daniel Thompson's review. I think we agree that Propeller is a superb album, arguably better than Bee Thousand and Alien Lanes of the following 3 'golden' years. I can't understand why he would want to emphasise how relatively poor new GBV is, considering he says Do the Collapse is his favourite album, in my view by far the least engaging of all GBV albums. The early to mid 90's period found Pollard & co. in the sort of form that 99% of all other musicians EVER would hope to glimpse for one second. Constant comparison is pointless - the guy is in his forties and he is still cranking out great tunes. I can't even be bothered to name the standout tracks on Universal Truths and Earthquake Glue, they are so numerous. ... Read More:

The second full-length Le Tigre album saw Sadie Browning replaced with JD Samson, with the band attempting to make their sound slightly more complex than the straightforward punk guitar/drum machine sound of their (admittedly fantastic) eponymous debut. Sounds good?
Unfortunately, the record's hampered by obviously low-budget production and, in places, mediocre songwriting. There's still plenty to enjoy here- 'My Art' and 'Cry For Everything Bad That's Ever Happened' are as good as any Le Tigre song- but 'This Island' or 'Le Tigre' are far better introductions to the band.

This is simply one of the best albums ever.
I don't understand people having difficulty making up their minds about it and yet being decisive enough to give a luke-warm review. Nor can I see the point of calling it a bargain and sticking a truly detrimental two stars on it.
Five stars is a category devised with albums like this in mind.

Every song is excellent. brilliant bass lines (the distance), mean guitar (open book). very original style (countryish-but sooooooooooo much better) with unique lyrics. the covers (perhaps perhaps and i will survive) are extremely cool as are the trumpets and piano on the album. you are missing out on something if u dont buy it
