Hard to Explain is, without a doubt the best Strokes song ever recorded! Scratch that - the best song ever recorded by ANYBODY! I love the band, I love both albums, but this song... infectious, catchy, sublime! The strokes have had an affect on me like no other band - especially this song! I have DVD performances of Hard to Explain, performed live on SNL, Leno, T in the Park (Scotland) & on 2$ bill! This song is gold!

Why one earth would you buy this if you didn't want the 5.1 experience?? Having listened to all the album reissues in surround, this one stands out as one of the most alive sounding. I urge you to listen to King of Comedy and be amazed.

This song is a perfectly crafted Rock Pop song, with relatively hard guitar riff for R.E.M. The Lyrics will take ages to decypher, but extremly cool. One of Peter Buck's most recognisable guitar solos half way through the song, is Excellent.
If you like this song, and the Guitar Playing you'll also like the Album 'Monster', from which 'What's the Frequency Kenneth' comes from, eventhough Monster is not as Pop orientated as the song, it is formidable!

Apparently, this album has split the jury; those who love it and those who feel it doesn't do justice to the original material. I fall into the former. Some of tracks differ from the originals ever so slightly (take No Excuses or any of the slower songs) where some stand quite separate from the originals. I do not feel the acoustic thing was an mtv gimmick. This album feels honest. The harmonising between Layne and Jerry on this record is the best you'll find. The song arrangement was brilliant. Material from every AiC LP/EP is included and done performed brilliantly. The album flows track to track summating to something truly amazing. Some one once said that this is not how Alice should be remembered. I say, coming together after 3 years and ... Read More:

I was a little dissapointed with this one on first hearing it, but looking back I'm not sure why. I picked up "Dressed up like Nebraska" at the same time and when you buy a couple of records like that, you usually take to one more than the other. Anyway, I love it now. If I had to pick one Rouse album that has something for everybody, it would probably be this one (although Under Cold Blue Stars comes close.) More up beat than the essential debut, but less poppy than his more recent records. The fantastic use of Horns, on tracks like "in between", and the expanded use of cello and violin really add to the arrangements. I cant think of another artist on the alt/country singer songwriter circuit who so consistantly comes up with the goods. Like ... Read More:

When I first heard this album I thought it was a bit weird. I listened to it again and a realized that its meant to be weird! But the really amazing thing is that this ( when listened closely ) actually makes a lot of sense and relaxes you. Some of the songs sound like your in a lift but they are so good that you woulden't mind being stuck in a lift with this album playing. I intend to buy more beastie's albums to keep me melo and keep my mind at ease. Some songs make you laugh, some you sing along to some you dance to. Rock, Jazz, Hip-hop this album has everything and succeds in mixing it into a blend of brilliance that everyone can enjoy.

Terrific live album of this intractable musician. Iggy Pop can hardly be surpassed in fierceness and intensity. He behaves like a hurt wild animal that has been urged into narrowness and now beats out blindly. Whereas the studio versions of the songs are already quite fast, the pace on these live versions is just breathtaking. I don't want to highlight any single songs. They are all excellent. By the way, on piano is David Bowie who also has written some songs together with Iggy Pop.
