This album just failed to excite me. I cannot find a stand out track. It's not necessarily terrible. It's just i find my self with no reason to listen to this album again
Release Date May 03, 2004
I feel that everything that I can say about the original album has already been said in my previous review of it. But I feel I should also review this version because, just for once, it's worth forking out for the deluxe edition.
The second disc of this package could be sold as an excellent 'b-sides and rarities' collection on its own. The quality is very high throughout, and far from tarnishing the original album, you find yourself adding 'Jamie' and 'Suzanne' to the tracklisting. 'Mykel And Carli' is almost as good, 'My Evalyne' is interesting if nothing else, but best of all are the Kitchen Tape demos.
These live recordings of songs which ended up on the album are fascinating insights into the band as a raw garage group, ... Read More:

I first heard No Code in the summer of 1996. Had a bad day at work and then first track Sometimes hit me. No it knocked me stone out. Following up from Vitalogy which was beautiful yet flawed Pearl Jam created there best record yet. And that includes what I believe to be there crowd pleasing latest self titled record in 2006. If you want to listen to what Pearl Jam means, there souls then this is the record. Don't get me wrong Ten and VS are absolute classics, but I think No Code is pretty much timeless. Every track here rocks. There are heavy moments here, feedback but it all means something. Red Mosquito is just genius. i douby there will be a finer rock record for some time to come.

How do you follow up a million selling album? This is a question that many bands have to ask themselves once they make it big - Green Day had followed two independent albums with Dookie, a multi-platinum monster and a show-stealing appearance at Woodstock 1994. A lesser band would mess around for a few years, add an orchestra and release a bloated, rubbish follow-up.
Green Day went the opposite route - perhaps stinging from some hardcore fans' accusations of selling out, within a year of Dookie, the band recorded and released Insomniac, an altogether darker, nastier album. There were no 'Basket Cases' here, considerably less of the toilet humour - instead we have songs about being neurotic, drug use and alternative lifestyles. 'Geek Steek Breath' is about as catchy ... With producers Don Dixon & Mitch Easter, R.E.M. captured their sound which sounded like a collision of then uncelebrated acts like The Byrds & The Velvet Underground. 'Murmur', which was a critical favourite at the time, remains a classic debut recording - the chemistry between Bill Berry, Peter Buck, Mike Mills & Michael Stipe is fantastic. Standout tracks include 'Perfect Circle' (which predicts later songs like 'Nightswimming' & 'Find the River'), 'Pilgrimage', southern-gothic-closer'West of the Fields', the tight-acoustic shiver that is 'Sitting Still' & the Byrdsian-'Talk About the Passion'...
'Murmur' more than stands up these days, and forms part of a trilogy of R.E.M. albums with 'Reckoning' (1984) & 'Fables of the Reconstruction of ... Read More:

You have to bear in mind the context.
1988 and Bon Jovi are the biggest band on earth. Livin' On A Prayer was the biggest rock single and Poison (Poison!) were making a killing, selling albums by the truckload.
Rock's image was pink-candy and exploitative. Lyrics were banal and hair was poodle-massive.
David Lee Roth was something of a guru.
And then this album happened and killed the whole ridiculous, soulless scene. A band appeared with integrity, sexuality, black-magic intrigue and, my oh my, talent. They had tonnes of that.
Not only were they starnge, but they were brilliant. And they rocked!
Who do you compare them to? Led Zeppelin, definitely. After that, you were in pretty new territory. Nobody had, or does, sing ... Read More:

When REM returned to the studio in April 1986 to record their fourth album - the follow up to the tepidly received "Fables Of The Reconstruction (The I.R.S. Years Vintage)" they were determined to put the rather gloomy experience of recording that particular album behind them .In other words they wanted to revel in the process and i would say that it is fair to surmise that judging by the results they succeeded.
History would come to judge Fables rather more favourably but Lifes Rich Pageant ( named after an Inspector Clouseau saying in the 1964 film "A Shot in the Dark [1964]" according to Peter Buck) was pretty rapturously received on it's arrival and listening to it again recently it's not hard to understand why. Released in July 1986 and clocking in at around a snappy 38 minutes ... Read More:

Sum 41 were the first ever band i got into there an amazing band this album is really good best tracks The Hell Song, Perfection (is my deriction), Still Waiting, No Brains, All Messed Up & Mr Amsterdam. This is a brilliant place start getting into sum 41 they are an amazing band, but ever since Dave(their guitarist) left they havn't been as good being too much like Blink 182 which really annoys me cause they were original. I recommend this to Rock/Punk/Metal fans it's amazing.
Release Date July 30, 1999
This album is really, really poor! I'm not an enormous fan of Blink 182, but I do appreciate some of their recent work. I found that the self titled album, Enema and Take Off Your Pants were full of uplifting, musical songs. This album shows how the band's music has evolved from this stripped-down, sped-up version of Blink 182, with a very unmusical, whiney and tinny sound. Basically, this is like listening to a very fast, annoyingly non-mellodic version of a decent US Punk band like Lagwagon or Ten Foot Pole.
I give each song on my WM Player a rating out of 5, all of these songs got 1s and 1.5s except Time which I generously gave 2 Sorry if this review offends Blink 182 purists but really this is poor music. I would certainly recommend Take Off Your Pants And Jacket over this. What you can ... Read More:
