Although I do still enjoy the title track and think the singles are not bad the album suffers from feeling a bit too samey. Even the forays into other styles "Cabron" with a Spanish style and "On Mercury" slightly more reggae come off feeling a lot like the rest of the songs. On Californication (an album that definitely could hold up to the best Chili's records) Anthony Keidis decided he would sing more than he had on any album before and on these songs he seemed to work much harder on the lyrics. The album mixed this new style with the older Chili's sound on certain songs "Around the world", "Purple Stain" and on some songs developed something new "Other Side" and "Californication". Almost all but gone are the funkier tones with by the way and the lyrics ... Read More:

Being in the ownership of every studio album the Talking Heads have released, "Remain In Light" is my favourite of them all. If you're new to Talking Heads, I would recommend BUYING THIS ALBUM - it's much more accessible than their more widely-known "Fear Of Music" and yet holds most of the experimental nature of the previous album which serves "Remain In Light"'s brilliance.
The first track, "Born Under Punches (The Heat Goes On)" is my favourite Talking Heads song, and the album also features the amazing "The Great Curve" and the widely-accredited "Once In A Lifetime".
Aside from this album, get "Fear Of Music". I'd also reccommend "Naked" - it's underrated and amazing.

I swear you will not find a better summery album anywhere. Put this mix of punk and ska on and you can feel the sun shining even in the middle of winter.
Please don't be put off by the fact that the band are called Rancid, even if you are not into 'punk' this album is amazing musically (especially the bass playing).
This album has to be one of the best i've ever heard, so do yourself a favour and buy it.

I guess the first thing that struck me was the overall look of the album; a cover containing simple shapes surrounding Jack and Meg (Meg looks about 13) and a Dutch name. De Stijl. That's alienating an audience straight away really...having a name people will be unable to pronounce. So flipping through the sleeve I find some interesting ideas and quotations about this weird shapely art they've used for the cover...the artists involved are Paul Overy, Gerrit Rietveld, Theo Van Deosburg and Vilmos Huszar...for all you Google kids. Jack likes to leave a little note in his album sleeves and this one ends with:
"Even if the goal of achieving beauty from simplicity is aesthetically less exciting, it may force the mind to acknowledge the simple components that make ... Read More:

I am a fan of sum 41 and this isnt really Sum 41. They started of as a Punk band(Half Hour Of power), and then started of doing Pop -Punk. I still think this a great album all the songs are great well written and some very good guitar solos, but they sound very similar to Blink 182. The reviewer below me saying it's a boy band with guitar i wouldnt blame him from just hearing this album i recommend everyone just getting into Sum 41 buy their debut Half Hour Of Power, Does This Look Infected & Chuck those albums are what sum 41 are all about good old rock. This is great but other stuff by sum 41 is better.

From the pounding drum intro to opening track 'Jimmy the Exploder' this album is a winner. Check the liner notes; they even give credit for the loan of the 18" floor tom that helps to make this massive racket. Zipping through 18 songs in 45 minutes, these selections are stripped down, raw and full of energy. The reverb is cranked up high, the playing is intense, and the attitude is ferocious.
I've been a bit of a latecomer to the White Stripes, but I've almost caught up now. I think De Stijl is still my favourite, but this one comes close. It's what the White Stripes are supposed to sound like.
Release Date July 13, 1998
For some reason known only to the record company, the tracks on this compilation are not in chronological order. The album thus opens with 1979s synth-rock track Atomic and then moves back one year for the equally electronic but far more catchy Heart Of Glass, the pop and dance classic.
Track 3, Sunday Girl, also comes from the excellent Parallel Lines album, whilst Call Me (theme from American Gigolo) is another electronic dance track that has not aged well because it lacks a good tune. Next comes The Tide Is High, a lilting reggae number from 1980s Autoamerican. Denis takes us back to the brilliant 1977 album Plastic Letters, whilst Dreaming and Union City Blue come from 1980s less than inspiring Eat To The Beat album that also contains Atomic.
