If you like trance/chillout albums the likes of which resemble Enigma, then your want to add this to your collection, but if your looking for something authentic, and original, that helps you feel the mood and spirit of the native american tribes and cultures, then stay away from this cd, because you will be disapointed.
However i will be recommending it to my friends who like a chillout session after a long nights clubbing

On this stately and sometimes sombre work, Joan Baez is backed by traditional instruments like recorders, viols, lute, pipe organ, strings and harpsichord. The intention was to make the sound reminiscent of the various periods in which the carols were written. Noel is thus completely different from her 1960s folk recordings with the prominent acoustic guitar.
Her voice is pristine and the arrangements outstanding, especially on tracks like Little Drummer Boy and Ave Maria (a classical arrangement, sung in German). The songs are interspersed with short instrumental like Good King Wenceslas, Bring A Torch, Deck The Halls, Angels We Have Heard On High and Adeste Fidelis, that add to the medieval mood of the album.

This wonderful record surpassed all my expectations i built up after listening to their record with Jenny Lewis. It's far softer than i was expecting, but what a lovely slice of Americana.
From the whispery opening of "How am i to be", to the enrapturing "Waves" you know you've been treated to something special.
Buy this album if you enjoyed the Rabbit Fur Coat, or just buy it. You owe it to yourself.

Buffy has always been an adventurous musician despite her guitar-strumming, country-girl image. She was probably the first singer to work with a purely electronic arrangement, and the first to bring the injustices suffered by the native North Americans to popular attention. This 1992 album was her first recording since the mid-Seventies, and she embraces new technology, recording most of the intrumentation herself in her home studio using digital media. Some of the songs are stronger than others, but all are excellent. One or two of these songs rank alongside the very best she has ever done in her 35-year career. It's a pity that her contempories have been unable to move with the times, as Buffy has!

In the late sixties, early seventies, I had a Tim Hardin LP album that I played to death. It was my all time favorite LP. As technological advances were made and CDs came to the fore, it was consigned to a box with all my other LP albums. I was, therefore, thrilled to find this CD with all my Tim Hardin favorites. I was not disappointed by it. It is, without a doubt, my favorite CD.
Tim Hardin was a very gifted musician, singer, and songwriter. His music is a celebration of the human spirit which is ironic, considering that his own life ended so tragically from a drug over dose. His songs often sung by others, Tim Hardin did it best. A cornucopia of emotion and sound, there is not a bad song on this entire CD. It is quintessential Tim Hardin. ... Read More:

This album and the one which preceded it are often talked of in terms of contractual obligation but for myself i would like to think there's a little more going on here - i like to think of it as the man's revaluation of his own role after twenty or so years of trying to hit the highs that he had achieved in his early career and frquently ending up putting out over-produced, substandard and often complacent discs with the odd hint of greatness peppered throughout. So here we have a Dylan aware of this going back to his record collection (to reaquaint himself with those that had inspired the young prodigy that he was?) and his acoustic guitar, switching on a mic and recapturing some of his former glory before going on to find something like a coherant voice ... I have a great love of artists who can enhance their studio material when playing it live. Very often you get great songwriters who can't perform or sing. Similarly you get great singers who can't write. To find one that can do the lot and still enhance..........well that's talent.
Harry Chapin had it in abundance, not top 20 commercial talent, but a mature talent that gets the nod from fans and peers alike.
This album is a perfect showcase of all that Harry Chapin represents. Great stories that slowly peel off layers of the skin of the characters he molds, until you are completely absorbed in the fate of each one as the song unfolds.
Some of these tracks are poignant, others sad whilst some are just plain humorous. A rollercoaster ... Read More:
This album was recorded live on June 18th 1971. Im writing this review on September 7th 2006 and I have no doubt that people will still be reviewing it in years to come. because it is a timeless classic.
Carole King has one of the greatest voices of all time, and it is captured here Live, singing some of the greates songs of all time.
Its all quite brilliant, but for me the highlight (and I have played it to death) is the trilogy of songs that she sings with her guest artist and former lover James Taylor. Sheer Class.
