Firstly I would like to say "what a fantastic album" and such a brilliant way of presenting his life and what it stood for. It contains many of his incredible recordings from 1945 - 1947 and reminds you of why he is one of the all time grand jazz masters. This is a great album to buy if you like jazz and especially if you're a fan of parker's fully-fledged style.

Monk's Greatest Hits

If you are new to Monk (or indeed jazz) or not, this is a valid purchase. If you are 'new' then this album will not dissappoint. It has all the warmth and richness you would associate with Monk while offering a respectable spectrum of his work. The only reason I am not giving this 5 stars is that track continuity was questionable at one point, fussy. Some of his finest moments are here, Epistrophy and Blue monk are just two that demonstrate the unquestionable range and involving tones of Theolonious Monk. The tracks on this album will then guide you in which T Monk album you wish to purchase next, which I would recommend to be 'straight no Chaser', which is pure genious.
