I have had the four album LP set since it first appeared as a private release - well over 30 years ago. When I first saw this set, it was over £40, but I bought it and was rewarded by the missing albums 5 and 6. If you like Peterson, and you've not heard these tracks before, prepare for a treat. At this ridiculous price, you'd be forgiven for assuming this would be a rough set of cheaply recorded live takes. Wrong - the engineering is a masterwork and the performances as brilliant as they get.

Made during the Bossa Nova years with Getz's quartet of the time - a very
young Gary burton on vibes, plus Gene Cherico (bass) and Joe Hunt (drums), this was the only studio recording of this group, but sat on the shelves in favour of the Bossa recordings of the time. Released after Getz's death, this album is a real find, with stunning performances of "Summertime", "Here's That Rainy Day" plus a couple of Burton originals. The ballads are amongst some of the best Getz ever recorded, particularly "Little Girl Blue". A wonderful album - can't recommend it enough!
