This is the first (and only so far) compilation album by Soul II Soul covering their amazing career from 1989's Club Classics to 1990's A New Decade and 1992's Just Right. It takes off with the smash hit (no introductions needed)"Back To Life" which is still regarded one of the best R&B records ever. The more mellow "Keep On Moving" is next followed by the sophisticated rap of "Get A Life" and the haunting melodies of "A Dream's A Dream".It's pure soul on "Missing You" , "Move Me No Mountain"(the weakest track in the album) and "Just Right" before it gets a bit more clubby with "People".Soul II Soul's first record ever "Fairplay" probably invented mainstream ... If you have the previous boxed edition of this album you have to buy a duplicate copy of the cd just to get hold of the dvd!
I suppose the state of cd sales is such that record companies feel they have to rip off customers to get what they can out of us.
Perhaps Goldfrapp might rethink the way they sell their music to their fans in future?

As a long time Alabama 3 fan and owner of every single album they have produced this is a complete success. I have spent years trying to recruit fellow music lovers to acquire a taste for thier bizarre music without much success. Now, with this album I can.

I agree with most of the reviewers comments - dark, smokey, jass/fusion etc. etc. I would suggest that anyone who enjoys works from early Soft Machine (first to fifth), Ian Carr's Nucleus, Isotope to Angelo Badalamenti's Fire Walk With Me should give this album a listen.

I think anyone who browses this site will soon realise that the price and quality of cds are rarely related. Here we have another example of a GREAT cd available for pennies. Marvin Gaye would have been happy to have recorded "It's not that easy", Mobile DJs around the country would be wise to invest in this disc for Lemar's duet with Joss Stone for Silver Wedding celebrations and as for the collaboration with the always excellent Mica Paris and Styles P, WOW !. You will rarely here such a complete Urban/R&B tune as "Can't you see".You may have guessed already but I RATE this album. It joins my list of bargain soul buys - see my other reviews for more excellent soul with change from a quid.

I'm a big fan of Aiden (his other band) and when I saw the article in Kerrang! about him first saying he's starting this side-project and the things he said left me thinking he had gone of his head.
I was half right! Yeah, some of the lyrics aren't that good. I know someone has already commented the flaw on the lyrics of 'Beautiful Loser' but I don't get what they said about 'Tranquilise'! That song is my favourite song on the album!
This album isn't for the kids! It's rather rude (if you've listened to it, you know what I mean) and there is quite a bit of swearing also. It's also not for the deeply religious because he constantly says in his lyrics how much he hates religion.
I have been to one of his first gigs and it was great! He really ... Read More:

At the time of recording this album Michael Jackson was a very angry man, the Chandler case had been going on and other people in authority were trying their best to ruin him. This was the biggest selling black artist of all time and he was living in Neverland Ranch in a purely white community, people were jealous and wanted his musical career finished.
This album was Michael's answer to them.
The songs Scream, They don't care about us, Stranger in Moscow, This time around, D.S, Money, Childhood, Tabloid Junkie and 2bad all relate to Michael's life at that time, which is why i've given this album 5 stars, this isn't his best album by a long shot but it is still a fantastic and very personal album and the people who give this a low score should sit back with headphones ... Robots Spacelab Metropolis Model Neon Lights Man Machine
Some albums open up entire vistas, suggesting not only new approaches but new musical visions. While Trans-Europe Express outlined the general approach, The Man Machine is perhaps the ultimate expression of the synthesis of man and machine that underlay Kraftwerk's approach. The voice, which was so open and optimistic in "Europe Endless" in TEE is now processed and digitised from the off, in the opener "Robots". It's a remarkable song which feels that it had to be made by someone eventually. It's both cold and mechanistic, and oddly funky and touching - I love it when they say "We are programmed just to do / Anything you want us to".
Whereas previous Kraftwerk album had featured a smidgeon of authentic ... Read More:

well what to say about this cd?
when i first got this cd i had only heard the song angelica before which i absolutely loved so much it made me buy the greatest hits.
when i first bought this album it took some listening to to get used to, but my god now it is one of my favourite cds, i can listen to this cd again and again. all the songs are so different in pace and melody, some songs been just in a state of pure idilic ecstacy while others have eclectic beats to rock youre socks off mostly having the very haunting vocals of the female singer, and ill tell you now her vocals are soomething else, very nice to listen to.
so without further ado get this cd!!! if you havent heard much of lamb before then this is the perfect starting point. this will make you want to buy everything ... Read More:
