First heard this as a promo in the record store where I used to blow all my teenage pocket money, buying up vinyl records.
The above comment goes some way to explaining why I've woken out of my current musical stupor to actually write a review. Mix CD compilations are a dime a dozen these days. They often provide a useful tool for DJ producers to either highlight what's coming next or to finally unfold the secrets on a bunch of white label promos and studio edits that only they have had access to for the past months.
Fabric 43 by Metro Area does none of that.
Instead, Darshan Jesrani and Morgan Geist have put together a compelling 68 minute mix highlighting a particular moment in dance music's fast-evolving canon; namely, ... Read More:

Throughout the decade of the nineties M- People grew into one of Britain's biggest dance bands and this album proves just what an electrifying and influential band they are as it includes some of the most memorable dance songs of the past decade. The band has an amazing chemistry combining infectious dance grooves with catchy lyrics and the powerful vocals of Heather Small. Overall the album is great and highlights the best moments of what has been a highly successful career so far. Although the band's style is not the banging house music you would hear in the clubs, it's slightly more laid back and is really a mix of dance and pop. The album includes upbeat numbers such as "Moving On Up", "How Can I Love You More", "One Night In Heaven" and Itchycoo ... Read More:

This album is by far the best I have in my collection! It has so much funk it's unreal. I love it!!!! For all the Alice Russell fans, you couldn't get anything better than The Quantic Soul Orchestra and Alice Russell together....bring on some more Tru Thoughts!

Black Sunday made Cypress Hill's connection to rock & roll more explicit, with its heavy metal-like artwork and noisier, more dissonant samples (including, naturally, stoner icons Black Sabbath). It's a slightly darker affair than its groundbreaking predecessor, with the threats of violence more urgent and the pot obsession played to the hilt (after all, it was a crucial part of their widespread appeal). Apart from those subtle distinctions, the sound of Black Sunday is pretty much the same as Cypress Hill, refining the group's innovations into an accessible bid for crossover success. In fact, it's a little startling how often Black Sunday recycles musical ideas and even lyrical catch phrases from the endlessly inventive debut. And the rock-derived, verse ... Read More:

after jay z had dropped reasonable doubt, a classic in every sense, and in my lifetime, a very underrated good album,it seemed he had fallen off, he dropped hard knock life vol, 2, which lost major points for having a guest appearance on every song, and the terrible(and i hate to say it) vol.3, jay z obviously took a long look at his mistakes, and made 1 hell of an album, this is album is a(as is the title) a blueprint for modern rap, jay z hired some brilliant producers for this, such as just blaze, the then unknown kanye west(this album made him the most wanted producer aside dr dre) and timbaland, and is lyrically excellent on it too, this album is extremely complete, as in, jay z is not afraid to show his soul to the world, and he raps about a variety of different ... Some excellent tunes here with Daft Punk, Tiga and Chemical Brothers delivering and some lesser-known tunes delivered too. If you like this sort of music then its a great addition to your collection. 3 cds worth too that keeps you entertained with a slightly different feel to each one. Definitely a good buy.

The opening track is the one used in British TV advertising for the album (and if I remember rightly, it became a single) so it has a "head start", I immediately liked it and the track which followed. The rest of the album is very relaxed but the smorgasboard approach means that overall I enjoy the previous album a lot more. Perhaps if I'd bought it when it was brand new I would like it more but respect to Zero 7 for getting to their third album and nearly 10 years, on a dance level they're getting close to M-People's Longevity.

Ten years and still going strong The Chemical brothers might just have come up with their strongest album yet.
We are the night is surprisingly fresh and full of ideas. The drums are as ever snappy, the beats lithe and unpredictable.
My favourites are the oriental-flavoured Saturate, the minimal electro-pop of Das Speigal (aptly named,) and the ambient, driving beat of Burst Generator.
There is indeed something for everyone on this, from the familiar dancefloor mover Do it Again to the beatifully harmonic The Pills don't work, guest vocalist Midlake sounds very much like Neil Young.
This record serves as a fine revindication of The Chemical Brothers place at the top of the British dance tree. Buy it!
