I have only had this album for two days and it is already one of my favourites! Although I had heard of Ray Lamontagne, I had not heard any of his music and ordered this album from Amazon on a whim. Just pure beautiful music, very Damian Rice-esque, execpt more upbeat!!

Not sure how this ended up in my CD collection....the tunes are ok but my rule of thumb is, if you can sit back and replace the vocalist with Cliff Richard and it sounds plausible then leave it well alone, or alternatively, buy it for ya Mum for Christmas....That's no disrespect to Cliff, he has his well deserved army of 'tenna ladies' to keep the royalties coming in. These chaps however are 40 years younger, they should strive to be a bit more irresponsible!

A terrible lot of old rubbish. Possibly some of the worst music in the entire history of Western civilization. The vocals are nazalised and grating. The music is an unoriginal copy of the Beatles, but without the imagination of Lennon/McCartney. In fact, Oasis amount to little more than a tenth-rate Beatles tribute band. The lyrics are very badly written and lack poetic qualities. If there was any justice, every extant copy would be burnt along with the original mastertapes, to prevent anyone ever having to endure the torment of hearing this "music" ever again. I wish I could have given this 0 out of 5, or possibly minus infinity.

Just thought I'd do my bit to reduce the ludicrously high star rating of Mr. Rice's dreary and vacuous disc. Lisa Hannigan does well to provide a good contrast to his dreadful vocals, but 'Cold Water' is the only song here of any merit; the rest is over-hyped tosh of the worst kind. May he sink into deserved obscurity as soon as possible.

This is most definately an album that deserves at least 3 listenings to from everyone who says they like listening to music because it is very very very good.

The opening title track 'Bombtrack' is a perfect track to listen to to understand this album because it is almost like a round up of everything to come in the rest of the album. Driving guitar riffs and licks (yes licks) from Morello and angsty hip lyrics from Zach. In fact the only thing it really doesn't convey about the album is quite the intricate brilliance of Morello's soloing ability and guitar playing. I must admit that I don't know if I completely understand this music (yet?). It's kind of like new age Pink Floyd with an Icelandic twist. The reason I say that is because it has such a broad expanse of sound which I do like. I must admit the middle of the album is really worth buying it for - there is such a lot going on it's awesome. However on the down side I feel that some of the tracks are a bit long and seem to have these very strange endings where a load of odd unrelated sounds seem to be tagged on as an after thought. Apart from that it has really grown on me and I think if you like something a bit out of the norm then this may well be for you.
