After reading some mediocre reviews of this album I was shocked when I finally heard it and it turned out that I really enjoyed listening to it. It's clearly a step away from the first album, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. This album has much more of blues, kind of Nashville Skyline-era Bob Dylan, feel to it, and I personally think that their vocals work much better together here, whereas the first album often felt like one or other of the vocal tracks had simply been 'tagged on'.
All of the tracks on this album seem to gel together very well, and although there aren't really any stand-out 'single' type tracks, I do not think that this is a bad thing at all.
It might take a few listens to really get into it, ... Read More:

After the excellent 'Final Straw', it was expected that Snow Patrol would come up with an album full of bigger tunes and much more ambition aswell. However, that is not the case and this album comes as a big dissapointment.
It's not outright bad, but it certainly shouldn't shouldn't be seen as anything like great. Yes, it does have it's moments. The singles that came off the album are all good. 'You're All I Have' and 'Open Your Eyes' are both catchy tunes. To be honest, 'Chasing Cars' was good at first, but now? Since the song was never off the radio, it became immensely irritating, especially as it is really just a Coldplay rip off. I think this was meant to be Snow Patrol's 'Fix You' but unlike the Coldplay hit, this song is devoid of ... Read More:

Not many bands change the music industry, and rarely do they do it overnight. But Nirvana is one of these bands. I love every single song by Nirvana, and I never get bored of the songs. Truly a masterpiece that I highly doubt will ever be surpassed. I rate this album and all other Nirvana albums a 10/10.

The National stand on the outer fringes of youth and with 'Boxer' create a woozy requiem for all that is lost in what Berenger calls "the unmagnificent lives of adults". Darker, denser, more soulful album than 'Alligator', 'Boxer' stands as a magnificent whole, drawing the listener into its soundscapes and its world painted in impressionistic word pictures. Berenger's narrator is always distant, disconnected from the lives he narrates, even when he's so obviously the subject, a distance sometimes enforced, sometimes self-induced, sometimes frankly voyeuristic. Oftentimes he sees what's happening but can't break in to change things to make the happy ending he so earnestly desires.
From the outset there's a strongly percussive sound to 'Boxer' drums to ... Read More:

Having achieved moderate levels of success with their self-titled debut and Rated R, Queens Of The Stoneage finally hit the big leagues with their third album, Songs For The Deaf. The last album featuring the revolving door policy of old, the QOTSA group on this album features Josh Homme, Nick Oliveri, ex-Screaming Trees frontman Mark Lanegan and most notably, with the Foo Fighters in disarray, Dave Grohl making a welcome return to drums.
Songs For The Deaf finds Homme streamlining the sexy yet doom-laden groove of the previous two albums into something almost perfect. Mixed as a shift between radio stations from song to song, Homme covers more styles here than ever before. Big hit 'No One Knows' is a straight-out pop song; 'Hangin' Tree' is an unsettling, psychedelic ... Read More:

possibly the most irritating bunch of useless dim wits to grace the music scene ever, the songs really are scraping the barrel to the point where it becomes quite offensive. Most of the songs comprise of background music reminisent of the type found on old commodore 64 computer games (only not as good) with that vile singer chanting the same childish lyrics over and over again in that horrible whiney voice.
Unfortunately this is the type of music your average thick moron seems to like these day's.

For the record, Lykke Li has one of the most punnish stage names in all of the pop world.
Fortunately the obvious jokes are no reflection on the talents of this fledgling Swedish singer (real name: Li Lykke Timotej Zachrisson), her high soft voice, and her unique brand of pop music. And her full-length debut "Youth Novels" is an exquisite little confection -- wistful, robustly elfin songs set to sweetly wintry electro-folkpop.
It opens with a gentle stream of piano and plaintive strings, as Lykke Li quietly speaks. "Follow these instructions/Do exactly as I do... Love is the harmony/Desire is the key/Love is a symphony/Now play it with me..."
Things pick up with the more "Dance Dance Dance," an adorable little song about expressing your feelings via ... Read More:
