Awesome concept album. The songs all link into one another smoothly and perfectly. You can hear a pretty strong classical influence on it. It's based around the concept of a dumb deaf and blind boy, called tommy. Buy it.

this is by far the best fob album. yes they did sell out on infinity on high but its stiil a great album and its not really selling out is it, its called maturing music wise and growing up.

After Tarja's departure, this is a new Era for Nightwish.

Although a very different sound to Tarja's voice, new vocalist Annette Olsen does a very good job.
Less Operatic and not trying to impersonate Tarja at all is a good thing. (Don't get me wrong, I loved Tarja!)

Tuomas finally sounds like he's got where he wants to be musically, even if that's ment he's had to part ways with Tarja to get there. I think she was holding him back.

My only fear is that now Nightwish will blend into the 'Female Metal' scene too much, they use to stand out.
They had something different.

This is the one Stones album where there is no need to analyse tracks to divide them between good, average, and bad. Every track is good, many are great. It may take 2 or 3 listens to the album to appreciate it fully, but once you do you will never forget its quality. Their best album.

After buying their new album a couple of years ago, i decided to check out their first 2 albums. Their debut album quite frankly is boring it has 2 good songs on it the rest sounded this same. This album however is deffinetly better. The songs here differ from each other, and everything has improved. Best songs are My Plague, The Heretic Anthem & Iowa. This album is very heavy, but brutal? who knows. But the thing that pisses me off is people keep comparing Slipknot to Slayer that's just not right, Slayer are one of the greatest metal bands to hit the planet yeah slipknot are good their no slayer. So overall, indeed a great album much better then their debut. A great starting point for new slipknot fans.

After the return to form of `Rock Art and the X-Ray Style' great things were expected of the second Mescaleros album and they didn't disappoint.

Only Joe Strummer could take all American iconic folk tale `Johnny Appleseed' and turn it into a world music classic. Unlike its predecessor `Global a Go-Go' is pretty consistent in arrangement with rockabilly guitars with African/bangra percussion, percussive piano arrangements and reggae organ fills with a few techno styling's thrown in for good measure across the first ten tracks. `Johnny Appleseed' gives way to `Cool'N'Out' (a Mescaleros in joke), through the title track and onwards with no drops in quality just great, if bizarrely named, songs. As an absolute Free fanatic, even though ive got all the tracks on this, I bought this and cant believe how Bob Clearmountain has messed up some of the most beautiful songs ever written with his ham fisted remixing.The beauty of Free was the simplicity, the soul and fire shone through, by all means clean up original tapes of hisses and pops but this is vandalism and all concerned Clearmountain,record company etc should be ashamed stick to the Free Story or the superb(if your budget allows)Songs Of Yesterday.
