This album has has never been far away from my CD player since it was released around 23 years ago. The music surprised a lot of people at the time because it wasn't completely representative of the Abba style. In the theatre the music is completely overwhelming. I managed to see the production 3 times, twice with the original cast and that is why I would recommend this recording above all others. Some of the players are different but the American, Russian & Florence were as heard on the CD's. The Swedish touring version mentioned further down is excellent, in that it includes the ending as we knew it & other bits and pieces. Still vocally this is the superior version and no one has sung Florence better than Elaine Paige. A pity it wasn't ... Read More:

This is deeply satisfying music, ideal for immersing yourself in the gothic world of Sunnydale's club culture. The sometimes dreamy, sometimes lively, yet always slightly dangerous undertones of this dark album have the perfect balance of the familiar and the unexpected. From the murmuring sensuality of 'Virgin State of Mind' to the pure teenage attitude of 'I Quit' and the baroque sliding tones of 'Transylvanian Concubine', this is one to put on, sit back and sink into. Buffy fan or not, this album is just good music with a generous 18 tracks of indulgent hedonism.

If you're reading this review and thinking about buying this album stop reading this review and get your charge card out. This is, bar none, the best compilation album I've ever come across. I'm shamed to admit I was unfamiliar with many of the tracks and artists until I saw the film. In hindsight I now understand the magnitude of the gaping whole this was in the development of my muscial appreciation. A vista of 70's soul-funk really opened up for me post-Jackie-Brown.

John Kander and Fred Ebb present CHICAGO, a musical set during prohibition in Chicago.
The story deals with the idea of a "celebrity criminal." The musical is based on a 1926 play of the same name by writer Maurine Dallas Watkins about real crimes & criminals she reported on!
The synopsis {possible spoilers ahead!}
Velma Kelly is a vaudevillian that murders her husband & sister {they were sleeping together.}
Chorus girl Roxie Hart murders her lover Fred Casely.
Roxie's husband Amos takes the rap, but Roxie is arrested & sent to a jail inhabited by Velma and other murderesses. Fraudulent Matron "Mama" Morton {whose mutual aid system suits her clients perfectly} controls the block. She helps Velma become the media's top ... Read More:

This is the best of Thomas. His affinity with the Welsh, his love of language, particularly their language, his melancholy and his air of delightfully mischievous humour just permeate this work through and through.
This was originally written to be heard, as a play for voices, i.e. radio. Reading it, however wonderful, and it is, is never going to replace the joy of listening to it, or seeing it in production. The play brings out the musical quality and the joyous rhythm of the words, and I would recommend using the book as a companion piece to the radio play, which is also available to buy.
I love the wonderful use of alliteration and repetition which makes this work seem so primal and ritualistic. I love the cheekiness of the characters; the blind captain, ... Read More:

I love this great CD, it's fun to listen to. My favourite track is of course My name is Tallulah. If you love the film you will love this CD!

Before watching Sharpe I had never heard of John Tams, and quite frankly my music collection was the poorer for it! This album is a fantastic mix of score from the shows and traditional folk songs of the period performed by Tams and his mate Barry Coope with an amazing guest performance from the wonderful Kate Rusby. A must have for all fans of John Tams, Kate Rusby, Sharpe and great British folk music!

LOVE it. Only Burton does this piece justice. I prefer this audio version to watching it on the screen and to reading the book. It is a 'play for voices,' after all.

Program's cool, so is the OST. I love the theme at the end, and Missy's hot boy's rocks! Moloko is brilliant and the rest are pretty good too ~ you won't stop plying it!

Saturday Night Fever was a phenomenon at the time of its release. The film and its soundtrack remain classic works. As well as the big hits from the movie there are a number of lesser known tracks here which featured in the film.
If you're heading out after a hard working week put this album on, turn it up, open a drink and let the good times roll.
