This is a Best of that has been released for Nana's Farewell Tour in the UK. It contains songs/arias from all decades (1960's to present). There are two new songs on this CD "Everybody Hurts" and "On My Own".Nana has such a unique voice. The music is uplifting and the singing is first class. You won't get much better singing than this.

I love Herb Alpert. The best known stuff on this album are the likes of the superlatively bouncy Spanish Flea, the sublime A Taste of Honey, the energetic Tijuana Taxi, Tetris theme Zorba the Greek and of course the theme to the original Casino Royale (the one with David Niven) which is so clever it hurts. But there's nothing on this album that doesn't delight.
Mostly it's instrumental, brass band work and very good brass it is. Like a Mariachi band. It's jolly and fun, and it gets me in a good mood and that makes it pretty fab stuff.

At the time of writing, my knowledge of jazz is sporadic at best. I am slowly building up my jazz collection, which includes classics from Coltrane, Miles Davis, Mingus, Adderley and others. I think I can safely say, though, that UNDERCURRENT is the current "hot ticket" out of all my jazz discs.
The execution of these tunes couldn't be more minimal - just Evans' piano and Hall's guitar vibing off each other. The results could not be more perfect. Hall picks away effortlessly at his strings, making the guitar murmur softly one moment then chug away rhythmically the next. Evans' piano is lyrical and sublime - I've never heard such charismatic ivory tickling! I was chilling to this disc the other day, nodding my head to this oh-so-natural ... Read More:

I must admit I hadn't heard much Charlie Parker before buying this album as an introduction to bebops founder and one of the world's finest saxophonists to date. After listening to both CD's in this double set right through various times I was addicted and I'm sure I shall buy much more of his work very soon. Many of the bebop enthusiasts I know agreed that the choice of song's on this album were very well selected and clearly outline the saxophonists different stages in his musical career. I recommend this album to diehard bebop fans and everyone else alike either to hear the amazing musicianship, unpressedented composing skills or just to know where every musician in the world hs gained some kind of influence. Pure Genious!!!

This was the first Coltrane record I bought after seeing it offer. Well being called 'The Very Best of' I was expecting too much, but this isn't just hyperbole. A great selection of tracks and really stand out performances too (best version of 'My Favorite Things' I've heard).
Certainly a great introduction to the trane, highly accessible. I wouldn't consider myself a connoisseur of the genre, by any stretch, but I imagine this would be a worth while purchase to the more seasoned listeners too.

Mike Walker has developed an original, signature guitar style over the years, coupling incredible harmonic finesse with a raw muscularity that engages, then grabs an audience by the scruff of the neck and takes them on what is, most often, a breathtaking journey. His stellar live performances, with both his own bands and jazz legends such as Tal Farlow, Kenny Wheeler, Bill Frisell, Vince Mendoza and George Russell to name but a few, have drawn wide acclaim and further contributed to the enormous buzz of anticipation surrounding the release of this long awaited album. Until now, however, his only recorded output has been limited to his many sympathetic support roles on other peoples' albums.
Now, though, it's time to put the record straight and the ... Read More:

This CD is essentially Albert's mid-60s record "Born under a bad sign" - one of the classic electric blues records - with the addition of the Stax singles "I love Lucy" "Funk shun" and "Cold feet" and a couple of others. All his classics are here that were recorded by many others in the second blues boom - "Pretty woman", "The hunter", "Crosscut saw" and of course the song "Born under a bad sign" itself. At the time in the 60s many of my friends were into soul and didn't like blues but they liked this record, which is blues you can dance to.
Albert was probably the most limited of the Kings (B.B. and Freddie) both as a guitarist and a singer but what he does he does wonderfully well - a powerful, relaxed voice and a screaming, sinuous guitar weaving ... Read More:

This is a good selection from the Pasadena Roof Orchestra. The band contains fabulous players; they are really tight, and the solos are excellent. Not only are most of the songs great, but the band's performance of them is second to none. Great to sing along to, and some of the solos, particularly on the clarinet, have really impressed music students I know.
A couple of my favourite tracks aren't on here, but others of my favourites I've not seen elsewhere. All in all, great value for money, good fun to listen to, and very impressive musically. I'm in my 20s, and this band I love in a way that some other similar stuff I can find a bit dated/boring.
