Believe me, it's usually the other way round. Usually I have nothing but praise for the man and his show that introduce me to so many fantastic artists. But in the case of this album, seeing Martha Wainwright perform on that show before purchasing `I Know You're Married, but I've Got Feelings Too' has ruined me, because if I hadn't seen her perform live I would have been blissfully unaware that in the right form this collection of songs presents an absolutely incredible portrait of a uniquely charismatic singer/song-writer. But not when they're delivered with decidedly less passion on an over-produced album that is not a proper showcase for these beautifully written songs and the tortured/passionate voice that always performs to perfect spine-tingling ... I have just got the box set recently, and have been enjoying it greatly. Not just that, my three daughters aged 9, 6 and 2 are great fans, and want to listen to it all the time in the car. And the two-year-old even says 'Rock' once she hears the first few bars of 'We will rock you'. Just goes on to show that Queen truly made ageless music, which still scores far above most contemporary music.

It is not hard to see why Neil stopped making music for so many years, I mean let's face it, any new material he puts out will be compared with his humungous back catalogue of popular songs. The previous offereing '12 Songs' for instance was nice enough, but after playing it quite a bit at first, there wasn't anything to keep me coming back for more, so it's been collecting dust for the last year or so.

'Home Before Dark' however, is quite a different proposition. The album was being promoted with 'Pretty Amazing Grace', a wholesome and instantly appealing God song, that prompted my wife, (who likes that sort of thing) to chuck a copy in the shopping trolly; I'm so glad she did - even though I'd have saved a couple of quid at Amazon - because ... In my earlier review of the first Raconteurs album, I said that I couldn't pick an outstanding track because they were all equally good. That effort was a solid and concise album - 10 short songs, plenty of ideas, and essentially it was veering towards pop rock. It sounded very different to The Raconteurs that I first heard at Leeds Festival in 2006. That band was awesome - big sound, tight performance, audacious musicianship... and on this record the Raconteurs have come to represent on record what they do as a live band.

Consolers of the Lonely keeps a lot of the pop sensibilities that the earlier effort possessed (vocal harmonies, singalong choruses), but it is very much more rooted in traditional American rock n' roll... and by that I mean blues rock ... Read More:

This is a "marmite" album you either love it or hate it. For me it's very much the latter. In fact there are only about 3 tracks I like and they are the tracks which stick with the Weller genre of bluesy/rock which he has delivered consistently over the years.

This album simply crosses every genre you can think of so you never know what's coming next, the problem with that is that the artist is delving into areas perhaps he shouldn't be getting into. Why fix a winning formula? However, it appears many fans like this album but for me I want Weller music, not experimental classical music to feed Weller's creative ambitions.

Not for me this one.

im a huge fan of 60s music and love all types of music apart from dance boom boom music and rap and hip hop no talent just talking how talented lol each to there own though this album sounds like its from the 60s with the phil spector sound but with a modern twist to it its cool it just shows you can make a amazeing album about your own life and promblems you face yeh i dont agree with the drug thing and the way she acts sometimes but her talent outshines that for me she is talented and her voice is soulfull and unique and the end of the day she has an addiction listen to addicted the last song on the album!! i cant wait for her next album amy youre a legend and this is a classic buy this you wont regret it!! happy listening

this CD is really just another example of the music companies trying to fleece us the poor consumer. whilst the music of Billy Joel is superb in any format this best of is just a rehash of his Essential collection.

unless you have a burning desire to own Scenes from an Italian Resteraunt and Only the Good Die young then i would seriously recommend 'The Essential Billy Joel' 36 tracks in all and 16 of them which you get on this album.

This album is just brilliant.

I started off thinking that it was all a bit odd and that only "Weird Fishes" really stood out. However after several listenings all the tracks stand out, which despite being a tad illogical is true.

Further proof in my ever so humble opinion that Radiohead are the finest band since the Beatles, bar none. I also liked the way the album was sold. I received the cd as a present from a friend who had voluntarily paid for it.

In spite of the cynics who say that the idea of optional payment was just another marketing ploy or the indulgence of a rich band, I think that the fact that people continue to buy the record, and that at time of writing (july 31 2008)the album is at no.38 in the Amazon music charts, even ...
