You've probably dismissed Diamond as music your mum listens to. You're wrong to think this because you'll be missing some great pompous rock songs. Some of it's cheesy, but a lot of what is on this best of is genuinely good stuff.

His name looks like an anomaly on my MP3 player's artist list. The thing is, I'm not ashamed as I love these big over the top (orchestra included on everything) songs. And you don't have to worry about good taste getting in the way of your listening experience.

Some of these songs even rock in their own way. Though it's best to skip the Streisand duet. And Brooklyn Road and Morningside don't stand up after a few listens. Otherwise it's great. And the live tracks are very energetic ... Read More:

First of all with this album, it needs to be said that this definitely isn't a follow up to Green Day's American idiot, and that the Foxoboro Hot Tubs are indeed a band in their own right! And just by picking up and looking at the cd case the vintage vibe just oozes from the hot tubs. The old school cardboard casing and imitation vinyl printing on the cd give it a truly retro and possibly hippy feel, which certainly isn't a bad way to go.

With the first song the retro vibe is definitely continued, and really continues throughout the whole cd. An absolute essential if you appreciate Classical, Rock and/or Science Fiction!
My earliest meeting with Jeff Wayne's Musical Version Of The War Of The Worlds was as a 10 year old lad in it's original year of release - and 30 years later, I'm still in love with one of the greatest alien invasion tales ever written (Also very fond of the 1953 film, but a little bit dissapointed by 2005's Spielberg epic - great FX though!). It was great on cassette back in the day, now it's AWESOME on compact disc!!!

i cant believe i hear this album now! having recently bought the brilliant Leaders Of The Free World I wanted to discover Elbow. Then I listened to Cast Of Thousands next which i included in my top 10 album list. but then I listened to this album and I was totally knocked off my feet! I just love it. this is music! reading other reviews I was deeply dissapointed they were compared to other bands. some of the reviews which compare elbow to say coldplay would have put off buying this record. If u like music then get all the albums by Elbow. Another band I thought I should recommend is I Am Kloot.

In the beginning the way into Dylan was via Peter Paul & Mary,the Turtles,the Byrds and Johnny Cash.
And commercially electric Dylan was just right.
This CD is just a sampler and introduction to the Art of Dylan.If you want more you get the original albums on CD.All but one have been on catalog since CDs began.
My favorite Dylan song is Can you please crawl out your window.
Thus this double CD would only be of interest if there was a booklet with it and its by no means the only one of its kind as the most recent-titled DYLAN and in 3 different editions -comes with a picture book.
Today's Dylan collector needs plenty of money and plenty of room

'Till the Sun...' is so much more better than 'Trouble' in so many ways, I think I'd have to be a quadruped with 60 toes to count them all! (But one reason it's better is that it's offensibly, criminally dirt-cheap compared to trouble!) 'Be Here Now' almost reaches out of the darkness with its overdone horn and string arrangements, giving it a somewhat dream-like quality. The next track, 'Empty', is by far the best song on the album, with deep, emotional, bleak lyrics and a good mixture of piano, gentle percussion, strings and Ray on the guitar. 'Lay with Me' is also quite a sweet tune about breaking inhibitions, and 'Three More Days' is a funky, soulful little number.
