An all time classic album, often imitated, but never approached let alone surpassed. Zack's vocals are incredibly emotional, and the sheer tightness and funking musicality of the band is staggering (and that comes from a guy whos played in bands for 15 years himself.)

I loved this album to death fifteen years ago. Yet, when im teaching kids today and i put it on for them, it seems just as powerful for them as it was for me back then. Stunning.

Cohen made three classic albums with John Lissaeur at the helm: 1974's New Skin For The Old Ceremony, 1979's Recent Songs, but at the apex of these achievements stands 1984's Various Positions, in that it paved the way for a new audience to discover Leonard Cohen afresh. I was really pleased with this as it came well within the 2 week delivery estimate.
Have not tried putting it in the computer yet to get the extra bits (CD Rom track) but the music is great.
I recommend all Jonas fans to get this CD.

This album is such a good buy, because of the mixture of songs on it, but at the same time has a mainstream vibe running through every one-the songs on the album are extremely well written and produced and it seems to me that time and money have been thrown at this album and with the talented Jordin Sparks at the helm it has been an utter success:

1.Tattoo-Catchy and definitely mainstream pop; not the best song on the album, but it is a great opener. 9/10
2.One Step At A Time-Has an R&B flavour to it and a great beat. 8/10
3.No Air-An ansolutely fantastic song-I'm no fan of duets, but this is outstanding vocally and lyrically. 10/10

Imagine how lucky you would feel if you were invited into Abbey Road studio to hear the master tape of the White Album. Well, what this CD version is is the next best thing, a flat transfer of the Abbey Road master tape on CD... no EQ, no noise reduction, no compression or any other Modern mastering techniques that destroy the dynamic range of classic recordings. Is it quieter than a modern CD? Yes, but that's why we have volume knobs.
If the rumours are correct then the Beatles recordings will be re-mastered and re-released, whether good or bad the White album will not sound like this does. We can only hope when they are re-released that the Mono Mix finally gets it's CD debut. It's absolutley scandalous that this has not been available for over 20 years. But for the stereo ... I was really excited when I heard the Killers were finally releasing their second album...then I heard "When You Were Young" and I had no idea what had happened to them, it was like the Synth-Pop of Hot Fuss had been thrown completely out the window. Part of me wondered if the Killers were really just Brandon Flowers and a backing band, and if he had just replaced the entire backing band for this album but apparently it's the same band which still feels a little hard to believe.

So anyway, just when I grew to think "When You Were Young" was a great song, the Killers released "Bones", and the song was just so awful it put me off buying the album and I decided to not even consider doing it. 1967-1970 : The Blue Album

This was the 2d album I ever bought (see my 1962-66 review), and I loved playing both sets. However, as I collected the original albums, these became somewhat superfluous: the Beatles albums are so good they outrank virtually any other band's 'best of', and you can get the singles on Magical Mystery Tour and Past Masters 2.
The band were producing their most ambitious music and the selection represents a lot of this, although why Don't Let Me Down and Old Brown Shoe are here I don't know; they were released as B sides, so it gave them to 1973 collectors on album, but (on the same principle) you can get them on Past Masters 2 (and plenty of 1963-6 single / EP tracks weren't on the companion 'Red' album..).
