after jay z had dropped reasonable doubt, a classic in every sense, and in my lifetime, a very underrated good album,it seemed he had fallen off, he dropped hard knock life vol, 2, which lost major points for having a guest appearance on every song, and the terrible(and i hate to say it) vol.3, jay z obviously took a long look at his mistakes, and made 1 hell of an album, this is album is a(as is the title) a blueprint for modern rap, jay z hired some brilliant producers for this, such as just blaze, the then unknown kanye west(this album made him the most wanted producer aside dr dre) and timbaland, and is lyrically excellent on it too, this album is extremely complete, as in, jay z is not afraid to show his soul to the world, and he raps about ... Immortal Technique follows up his critically acllaimed Revolutionary Volume 1 with the much improved volume 2. This album is quite simply mind blowing. The ability of this man cannot be overlooked.

One of the most moving and albums i've heard in a long time that has a perfect blend of hip hop, rap and truly soulful tunes that really make you want shake that booty. My favourite track has to be the seed which i've played over and over again and just can't get enough of. To all you hip hop, body shaking lovers out there, this album is a must! xx

Most modern music fans will now only remember Notorious BIG because of P Diddy's relentless plundering of his 'friend's' catalogue, and for the many mawkish tributes he's released. It takes an album like the epic (and disturbingly prescient) Life After Death to remind us that BIG was at one point hailed as the greatest rapper in the world.
Never as prolific as his greatest rival, Tupac, Biggie took a leisurely three years to follow up his classic debut Ready To Die. An amibitious double, it covered virtually every base, and, somewhat annoyingly, featured a considerably increased Puff Daddy quotient. Puffy's omnipresence is one of the album's very few annoying points - he appears on the majority of the skits, several of the songs, produces the album and ... Read More:

I love this album, and what a bargain it is! I think the most refreshing thing about it is that it carefully balances the ideas of early rap and 90's hip-hop - those being the smooth and 'meaningful' lyrics he's produced, and the clean break-beat production. This is something that has been lost in today's market, for now a 'rapper' rambles on about guns, girls, and how his dog died. Hip-hop hardly exsists of course, mainly being replaced by r'n'b in bars etc.
The album starts brilliantly with the great lyrics to G'irls Ain't Nothing But Trouble', which sets a tone for much of the album. Stand out tracks include the full version of the song from the program he starred in; The Fresh Prince of Bell Air, and one of my favourites for the summer which is Miami; the rhythm actually being ... 2001 is easily one of the most influential, trendsetting and important albums in west coast rap/hip-hop. Bringing west coast into the 21st century. If you like this sort of music then its got to be in your stack. Dre's 'The Chronic' is equaly as good and worth having too, just alot more old skool than this. Some great skits too giving the album a humourous edge to boot. Anyone giving it a 1 star should go buy some Vanilla Ice. ;)
Release Date February 17, 2003
I didn't pick this album up until this year (2008) as I'm not normally into this kind of hip hop. I mainly listen to things like Talib Kweli, The Roots and other underground/intelligent stuff.
But I have to say I was surprised by this album, yes 50 raps about the stuff everyone else has said, but he does it in quite an intelligent way and over some dope beats. There are a number of standout tracks and this album is definitely worth listening to.
Just don't expect it to be A Tribe Called Quest, 'cos it definitely isn't. But if you take it for what it is you will enjoy it, and it's great for the car!

This album is good. So good I might buy it again, It's that good. I can 100% recommend this album for anybody who likes hip-hop, Jazz, Rap, or anything Urban. If you are a fan of The Roots and don't have this album, label yourself the biggest cretin in the world and buy this album pronto.
It is impossible for me to single out the best song; they are all 10/10 in their own rights. Sure, you might think that nothing is perfect, therefore this cannot possibly recieve 5 stars. It is perfect. Thats why this album recieves a "Riddick Seal of Approval".
