If anything can be said for Lupe, it's that he's a breath of fresh air for the hip-hop world.
I loved this album from beginning to end, there wasn't a single song I didn't like. He's different, he has morals and he's interesting.
This was one of the few albums I was seriously anticipating and then when it was released I wasn't disapointed in the slightest.

Soul-jazz legend Gil Scott-Heron delivers a fine album here with some of the best tracks of his career.
"The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" is mesmeric, sharp, intelligent and innovative. "I Think I'll Call It Morning" is charming, sweet and soulful. "Home Is Where The Hatred Is" is socially aware and tight and the title track is moving and thoughtful.
"Lady Day And John Coltrane" is a sublime peice of tight funky jazz (as opposed to jazz funk know what i mean?).
A very good album. Worth exploring the man's back catalogue.
Intelligent, excellent, soulful music.

Whilst the other tracks are far from fillers, this debut album is allabout 'Public Enemy #1' which established the atonal sound of laterclassics such as 'Welcome to the Terrordome' with it's funk/jazz guitarquick stabs rather than longer, melodic riffs.

This is an album which I find particularly easy to listen to. Klash's lyrics are predominantly tight, meaningful and thoughtful. The beats are mostly nice aswell complementing the rapstyle with success.
'Zero' is a fresh and brilliant opening track for the album, letting the listener know what he/she is in for with the opening lines "I self-cater, radiate like alpha beta/battle the caper, detonate the paper...".
Where this album really stands out for me though is through the guest appearances of Kyza who quite literally blows the other rappers away with his verses on several of the tracks. On 'B4 U die' Klashnekoff demonstrates his substantial ability on the mic (as he does throughout), but Kyza finishes the track with an outstanding ... Read More:

right then a double album where the two discs reflect the different styles that the guys want to play. good idea but does it work? well um yes very well you dont get the mixture and variety vibe like you did on iv but instead you get to shake your ass to top drawer hip hop on the skull disc and bang your head to metal on the bones disc. the best bit is the sheer fact that it seems like the boys are showing off by doing hip hop thats as good as ever and then teaching the nu-metal boys a lesson by writing hip hop/metal songs that easily outstrip the childish fumblings of limp bizkit and linkin park. bizkit and park wish they had a song half as good as rock superstar and the sister song rap superstar leaves the gangsta competition looking like chumps too. mission ...
