This album was one of my first tastes of a new genre of music.
I cant recommend this enough, very deep insightful. The tunes kinda flow togther and they are masterfully crafted.
I personaly love to stick this on late at night after a hards days work, get some candles on, turn off the lights and maybe a crafty smoke chill and chat to friends or that special person.
The more you listen the more it grows on you. Its uniqueness is part of its charm and i couldnt imagine anyone not rating this as immense.

The first hit single in the U K by Ray Charles was Georgia on my mid in 1960 and this disc made No 24.Charles was on a new label by then and the Atlantic sides while issued here meant nothing until the Age of Merseybeat.
Hit the road Jack went top 5 and it was nothing but up from then with the Modern Sounds of Country & Western spawning a number of hit singles.
Ray's earlier work on Swingtime began apperaing on a label called Society.
This CD is a pretty comprehensive overview of the most essential recordings which include his Beatles covers and ends with his version of Imagine.
Theres never been any shortage of albums by Ray Charles and I think the first was What'd I say-which was probably too far away from general tastes ... Read More:

Although not as widely popular in the U.S. as in England, 5 Star managed to score several hits. Most U.S. audiences first became aware of them from "All Fall Down", which hit the R&B and dance charts. "Can't Wait Another Minute" and "If I Say Yes" are prime examples of Brit-Pop at it's finest. Why they never became super huge here is still a mystery.

As an avid collector of the Good times albums, I was abit worried about how the series was beggining to decline in terms of track selection quality. Volume 7 was very poor, and so I expected this to be even worse, but to my delight it wasn't.
As this is now volume 8, there can be only so many great tracks that Norman can share with us, but for this CD he has dug deep and found 24 more to keep us going for another year.
It's not as great as the earlier editions, but it's still a good CD, and well worth having in your collection!

As one of the people who didnt purchase Ms.Rowlands first album "Simply Deep" I am more than happy with my purchase of Ms.Kelly (Deluxe Version) I fell in love with the track "like this", I could play this song till i die, its pure brillaiance!! 10/10. Also loving "Work" (freemasons remix) again a work of art, fantacstic 10/10 for this effort.........but my fav track on this re-issued, re-hashed album has to be "Come Back" (karmatronic mix) i purchased the album about 2 weeks back and havent stopped playing this track (honestly) its the best dance track i've heard in a long, long time !! i just love it, its infectious, i dare you to play this track and keep still 10/10. The soundtrack of Forrest Gump certainly lives up to the reputation of the fantastic film which is also blessed with several Oscars. All the classic rock from the 1950s through the hippy 70s and on to the 80s is brought to life through a dual-cd album also featuring the soundtrack to the movie. Truly the greatest collection of songs ever to be burned onto the shiny discs. A must buy for the fans of every type of music!

After "Bees And Things And Flowers," I was so looking forward to "Tales" (and maybe that was the problem)that I almost ripped the cd out of the posties hands.
But after a couple of listens I was ready to consign it to the "looks like they are on the downslope" section of my cd collection. The more laid back acoustic groove of what I thought was merely a stop gap release in "Bees....." remained and I was left thinking, where had they left their funkiness?
HOWEVER......I am happy to report I was very very wrong. Having stuck with it "Tales..." is actually a very mature collection of songs from a band who are at the top of their playing/singing abilities. The first 7 tracks demonstrate what the album is all about - the songs aren't as immediate as, say ... Read More:

I agree with all the other reviews on the album , well nearly all . As my title says , why for Gods sake did H.Hancock and co put this has been in on what is a good listening album - but Leonard "let me open a vein to" Cohen on a Jazz album !!???? He can't sing - never could , never will , and the only reason that I can think of why he's on this album is because he's from Canada . The track is not "interesting" it's bloody awful and the producers should hang thier heads in shame .
