The diamond of the old skool rave scene. The best Prodigy album in my opinion (although I'm a big fan of fast paced dance music like happy hardcore) with some of their best tracks, and at the same time it is an absolute disaster. Why Liam and the gang decided to leave out the released single versions of Fire and Wind it up used to be a mystery to me, I now know why, to earn more money. Charly is a bit different aswell, though some would argue better on the album, aswell as a couple of others being a little different. The brilliant versions of Fire and Wind it up (rewound) were left out and replaced with terrible remixes in comparrison. You used to have to fork out another £10 just to get the two singles, worth every penny (especially Wind it ... Read More:

Head Banging Techno Attempt from Liam, Keity, Keith and Leeroy. This version sounds little like the version on the album and is well worth buying if you followed the early old skool rave scene.
Release Date August 04, 1994
This single showcases the change of direction in The Prodigy's style. The title track moves away from the 'dance' genre set down by it's predecessors 'One Love' and '(No Good) Start The Dance' with the use of live guitars.
The B-sides are outstanding with a remix by the Chemical Brothers (formally the Dust Brothers) which has a completely different sound with heavier slower beats, with the only similarity to the original being the lyrics. The other B-side, a sequel to a track (The Heat, The Energy) on the Music for The Jilted Generation album, called Goa is a hard track with an acidic techno sound.
My only disappointment is that the single did not feature the track - Speedway (Secret Knowledge Remix), which is featured ... Read More:

Way back when, this was one of the defining big beat albums. Massive percussion, explosions etc underneath layers of almost discordant samples and loops. It broke the Brothers into the mainstream with Block Rockin Beats leading the way on the radio, and Setting Sun ticking the celebrity vocals box.
Ten years on, this remains a cracking album. The tracks merge into one soundtrack, which veers between the plaintive Where Do I Begin to the real hardcore mid section of the album. Sometimes you get a nice neat packaged chorus sing a long, and sometimes you get a real mashup of noise. But the quality shines through. And if you turn it up all the way to 11, then it becomes just awesome, the subtleties, the balance of the different layers, ... Read More:

Fatboy Slim AKA Norman Cook returns after a year long absence (not to mention a wife and baby) with Sunset (Bird of Prey), his mellow and oddly beautiful new single. Sampled originally from a Doors song, there isn't much substance at first glance and big beat garage thumpers won't find much here (just as well, there's enough of that tiresome pap filling the clubs and airwaves as it is). But those looking for something half way towards Massive Attack should give it a listen -- the beat and uplifting synth will totally infect you. Highly recommended.

This CD was very suprising. I bought Surrender and Hey Boy Hey Girl single a few months back, and both were kinda of disapointing. But Music:Response was what I had been waiting for. All of the songs are great. Mainly Freak of The Week and Enjoyed. When you hear them you will know that the chemical brothers are the same as they have always been, and i think that is what everyone wants.
Another note: I think that "Freak of The week" is one of the top 10 songs that the chemical brothers have produced in their whole career.

Much more upfront than the last two releases from his recent albulm `Halfway between the gutter and the stars'. Star 69 again uses a vocal sample that in radio edit has to put up with only saying `What the ...'.
The sample is laid over a really bassy techno riff that has had them dancing in commercial and underground clubs alike.
The B side - Weapon of choice, is a much more chilled out affair. The bonus is the CD Rom for the video to this track which has movie villan legend in a very different role dancing around a high class lobby.

I've not heard of the Crystal Method before, but being a fan of surround mixes and finding far too few being released I stumbled upon this one. The music is quite brilliant, It's dark, driving, threatening, urgent and quite sublime. Very reminiscent of the music played in clubs such as Melt, Warriors, and FF and albums such as the Flying Rhino Record compilations, Travelling compilations, Sacha and Digweed compilations and DJ Jon The Dentist. This is not dinner party music, this is very definitely post club mood music, it'll take you on a journey though it might not be a pleasant one it'll certainly be scary and thoroughly exhilarating .
The surround sonics of this album are beautifully mixed with all the various speakers delivering ... Read More:
