Now this is a groove. On Chickeneye, DeeJayPunkRoc essentially takes samples from all over modern culture, puts them in a bucket and hits them with a stick. This album is proof of the raw power of a hook, and shows the trained ear PunkRoc has for a dangerously catchy sound. And that is exactly what he creates. Even in the laid back, stoned breakdowns to some of the more hiphop material on this album, I defy anyone's head not to nod. When he explodes into his acid, scratched, ballsy best (just listen to the stupidly loud opener "I Hate Everybody"); if you aren't dancing, see a doctor, or better still a mortician. It's entirely possible you don't have a pulse.

As we all know, "Let Forever Be" is a down-right GREAT track from The Chemical Brothers: so I won't say much about it... It's really brilliant.
"Diamond Sky", the second track, is essentially a remix of an album track: "Surrender", from the album of the same name. Its short and very percussive intro, sets the melody up to a tee. It's a superb remix of a superb track, and as a track on its own, its inevitably inspiring, and will show you that there are things worth holding onto in this funny old world.
"Studio K", the third and final track on the single, is basically the drum track to the FANTASTIC "The Sunshine Underground" from the 'Surrender' album. Good listen, but you may lose sight of its point after a couple of listens. ... Read More:

Ignore the first reviewer who awarded this album only 2 stars, if you're looking for actual fatboy originals a quick glance to the back would tell you this is a remix album. But what a remix album it is! I have listened to this CD so many times, but never got bored of the songs on it. The collection ranges from chilled-out hip hop (ATCQ) to funk (James Brown) to reggae (Beats International), so there's something here for every dance music fan.

Way back when, this was one of the defining big beat albums. Massive percussion, explosions etc underneath layers of almost discordant samples and loops. It broke the Brothers into the mainstream with Block Rockin Beats leading the way on the radio, and Setting Sun ticking the celebrity vocals box.
Ten years on, this remains a cracking album. The tracks merge into one soundtrack, which veers between the plaintive Where Do I Begin to the real hardcore mid section of the album. Sometimes you get a nice neat packaged chorus sing a long, and sometimes you get a real mashup of noise. But the quality shines through. And if you turn it up all the way to 11, then it becomes just awesome, the subtleties, the balance of the different layers, brilliant.... ... Read More:

From start to finish this album expresses a slick coolness with stylish beats and a cool fresh sound. Holmes seems to have drawn more from his experience on film scores than his previous album 'Lets Get Killed'. As the previous album is one of my all time favourites, I was dissapointed with 'Bow Down to the Exit Sign' on first play. I missed the sense of gritty darkness and raw dispair that made 'Lets Get Killed' so distinctive. However I soon grew to its more modern beats and rhythms. It was clear Holmes was trying to do something different with this album as opposed to doing 'Lets Get Killed 2' and not joining a growing trend of musicians who release albums which sound just like there last one because it sold well (like Travis).

I've not heard of the Crystal Method before, but being a fan of surround mixes and finding far too few being released I stumbled upon this one. The music is quite brilliant, It's dark, driving, threatening, urgent and quite sublime. Very reminiscent of the music played in clubs such as Melt, Warriors, and FF and albums such as the Flying Rhino Record compilations, Travelling compilations, Sacha and Digweed compilations and DJ Jon The Dentist. This is not dinner party music, this is very definitely post club mood music, it'll take you on a journey though it might not be a pleasant one it'll certainly be scary and thoroughly exhilarating .
The surround sonics of this album are beautifully mixed with all the various speakers delivering just the correct amount of detail ... Read More:
