The best things in life are free, they say, and, sadly, it is equally true that the best albums are often neglected. Luckily, I heard d-j Bob Powell play a couple of tracks from this 1982 release on his LONDON COUNTRY Radio Show & it has given me more pleasure over the years than almost any album - certainly more than any bluegrass album - and it still sounds beautiful to me today, 24 years later!

Quite simply, it has everything a great album should have:-

1. A tasteful selection of lesser-known compositions (from the 50's, 60's & 70's) by writers of the calibre of Bob Dylan, Shel Silverstein, Kris Kristofferson, John Prine, Dan Fogelberg & John D.Souther.

Nice to see that Bela has expanded his classical repertoire from the single piece that he used to play on stage (and on his DVD).
Having been a fan of his for many years and having been fortunate enough to catch him "Live" at The Mean Fiddler" in Harlesden a few years ago, I am delighted to see him go from strength to strength.
He has also moved The Banjo from what was perceived by many to be an instrument of derision to a thing of considerable beauty!

Let's face it, Bela could play anything, if he set his mind to it.His ability and talent seem boundless.

I look forward with anticipation to see where he decides to go from here.

A wonderful, high energy acoustic band, the Greencards have scored with this brilliant album. The album presents a wide range of music by first class musicians who are not afraid to experiement. Reminiscent of Nickel Creek, the Greencards interweave resounding vocals and outstanding picking, enhanced by the excellent choice of tracks. The songs allow the band to demonstrate their musical talents to the full. Would recommend this to anyone who loves acoustic music.
