You are probably wondering whether to jump on this band wagon, after all the "surf scene is all the rage at the moment" well the truth is even in light of Jack Johnson's "sell out" in 2005 there is always this one chap that will be churning out the fantastic tunes with very little mainstream attention!

Ben Harper has been making some of the most chilled, often emotional and sometimes chirpy music for the past 10 years or so. He is the leader of the pack. This is probably the CD that you should get to get an overall picture of his talents.

G. Love & Special Sauce

I listened to this album first in 1996 at university. It belonged to a friend, but I went straight out and bought it, I liked it that much. Sat about on the grass on campus we, my friends and I, spent many a Summer afternoon doing very little, chilling out to the laid-back music of G. Love & his Special Sauce.
I like the album's catchiness, 'Baby got Sauce' immediately entered into my 'favourite tracks ever' list, but 'Cold Beverage' was the track of the holiday for us all. Lemonade & a double scoop...

What can I say about Volume One of the Nuggets compilation that hasn't already been said, this album after all is still one of the most important purchases I have ever made.

The cheap price tag of this collection on its own is quite frankly daft, but with the array of quality songs from relatively unknown bands being quite literally immense on this compilation, as a starting point you can't really do much better. So in short, you have no excuse, you need to have this compilation in your collection now.

Originally compiled and released in 1972 on the Sire Record label, by Elektra Records founder Jac Holzman with help from Lenny Kaye, Nuggets is a superb gateway to the 1960's Psychedelic and Garage scenes. I play at least 5 songs from ... Read More:

The first time I ever heard "Sympathy For The Devil" I was 15 and it absolutely blew me away. It was all too much - the slyly witty lyrics, the strident bark of Jagger's delivery, the creepy ambience...and when the indecently distorted guitar solo kicked in it was the coolest thing I'd ever heard. It more than deserves its reputation as one of the Stones' finest hours, and repeated listening does nothing to dull the magic. And that's just the first track.

The rest of the album is stuffed with tremendous songs, from the beautifully wistful "No Expectations" to the yearning lyricism of "Jigsaw Puzzle" to the strutting classic "Street Fighting Man" to the seamy celebration of the joys of jailbait that is "Stray Cat Blues" (these were more innocent times), ... This is easily the best album they have done, i've owned it for a while and not written a review but upon seeing all the other reviews i felt it had to be said. THE ONLY SIMILARITY WITH THE THE WHITES STRIPES IS THAT THEY'RE A TWO PIECE BAND. They sound entirely different and for a start, Pat can drum and meg can't. However there is a feel of hendrix and definately cream/clapton about theyre songs; this the best album out of the 6(including te EP, which is worth buying aswell)and everyone should buy it. Enjoy.

I've often said that "stadium rock" crap of the mid 70's spawned punk rock. I'd like to think it also spawned "pub rock", a U.K. mid 70's phenomena that incorporated a low rent, no nonsense gang of r&b loving musos who played in pubs to smaller audiences. No one better exemplifies this description than Canvey Island's Dr. Feelgood. I heard Bad to the Bone on the radio whilst driving in USA and just had to buy some George Thorogood. Hearing the song again for the first time years reminded me of George's fantastic set during Live Aid in 1986. When I put it on in the car I just wondered how I had got by all these years without owning this masterpiece. It's a great mix of rock a blues, like ZZTop with attitude! Buy it, enjoy it and play it loud!
