It is a real diverse mix of upbeat tracks with drum and bass in places. The best thing about this is its upredictability. Whats coming next, Blue lips has a retro disco feel, this is an album which has the old feel of Nine Deadly Venoms with the fresh new mix of soundscapes. There a one or two repetive tracks but this is a progression forward, with all the nostalgia of the great movie samples with a new edge. Depth Charge are highly underestimated. I can recommend this as a good edition to your collection |

Up until track 11 it is excellent, then it descends into these horrible slow songs like Hernandos Hideaway. From track 11 onwards this is rubbish. A pity, because for that reason I cannot recommend this compilation. There is just no focus on a particular style of music. One minute you're dancing to an awesome funky tune and the next you've got some slow classical song boring you to death. |

True, cold water music is a hard album to follow up, but i think hinterland is a match for it in all aspects. The vocal tracks on offer are brilliant, kate rodgers latest contribution far better than her last effort on cold water music while stephen jones delivers a brilliant falsetto to make a beautiful song out of good disease. Equally, the rap offerings shine with diamond d and the souls of mischief providing tight rhymes - all this over the usual dope beats AIM so often provides. Admittedly some of the instrumentals do drag on a little but that is not enough to convince me this album deserves no less than five stars. |

He combines mellow beats, ambient sounds and some awesome MCs to produce truly stunning, intelligent hiphop that will get you nodding along within seconds. If you've ever grooved along to Rjd2, DJ Shadow or Nightmares on Wax then you will enjoy this, if not - where have you been?! Aim produces perfect laid back, summer evening hiphop that never fails to please. Words can't do justice to how good an album this is, just buy it and find out for yourself! I 100% promise you will not regret it. |

However, as with many reviews on Amazon, the only people who bother to write them either love or hate the music. So many average albums seem to receive 4 or 5 stars. Personally, I find this album... ok. The old movie samples are cool, but really there's nothing else here. The beats are bland, especially when compared to more recent releases on Ninja Tune, Grand Central, Tru Thoughts etc. The instrumentation is generally rather weak and charmless, the best meoldies being the ones derived from samples. As this was 1994 and as this type of music has since progressed into much richer uk hip hop and chillout scene, perhaps my expectations ... Read More: |

Said to be the first dnb concept album, this is perhaps an unfair label. You won't find any self-indulgence or pointless fillers - just adrenaline rush electronica at its very best. Tracks blend into one seamless, exhilarating journey, but still manage to retain individuality. The mood shifts constantly to keep your ears glued to every bleep and bass boom and just as you lock into one groove, something unexpected lunges out of the speakers and whips you off in another direction. Deltron 3030CD-Charts > Music > Breakbeat by: Deltron 3030 Release Date October 23, 2000 The theme of the album is cliché as hell; a futuristic, empty dystopian world where only a few people (this time rappers and producers) are left alive, but in the context of a hip hop album it seems to work pretty well. And thanks to Del being a better rapper than Kool Keith, Deltron 3030 presents itself as a much more accomplished piece of work than the other main Automator album, Dr. Octagonecologyst. Yet, like that album, it's The Automator that puts me off Deltron too. His production has all the sci-fi sound effects and weird quirks you'd want from something like this, but his sub-RZA beats don't have the variety to warrant the 60-minute length of the album.
