mmmm.....I enjoyed the first album Hopes And Fears, especially the top class singles. There were a few so-so songs on there, but the majority of the album was a pleasurable listen. This album doesn't do anything for me whatsoever. It's too wet. Some of the songs are cringey (oh Crystal Ball, Crystal Ball - dreadful) and some songs just don't go anywhere. They even try a Low-era Bowiesque song, which just doesn't work. Unfortunately, my negative response to this album has stopped me listening to Keane (including the first album) altogether. Time to bring in a couple of Guitar players me thinks!!!!

i bought this for my dad for christmas (not in a bad way!) and he's loving it. I bought it for him because i cant drive and if i have to be stuck in HIS car listening to HIS cds while he takes me somewhere then it's just excellent then we both get something to sing along to.

This is another great album from this band ,and the best part about it is each song actually sounds different, one of the least generic albums I can think of for a long time. Part of me loves that so few people seem to know and love delays so they play accessible concerts and I feel I have a lovely little secret, but if the general music buying public don't catch on soon I'm worried they'll give it all up. So good I let it play twice in the car before changing CD.:)

Gomez are a unique combination of jam band and britpop - retaining all the integrity of the first with the catchiness of the second
1. Get Miles - great track but just an opener really.
2. Whippin' Piccadily - very catchy hummable song with great lyrics about getting the train at London's busiest line
3. Make no sound - a very pretty song with a slightly dark tone, very nicely played spartan acoustic guitar
4. 78 stone wobble - excellent song
5. Tijuana Lady - very beautiful song, despite the silly lyrics, which seem to be written by a British band that has very little idea about Mexico - the kind of allusions that someone British would make sombrero / poncho / El Mariachi / Desperado
6. Here Comes ... Read More:

i didnt used to know much about the libertines, but when i finally got into them (after the split unfortunatly) i loved them.
Every song on this album is great, although 'campaign of hate' has rather repetitive lyrics, and anyone who has heard it will know what i mean.
To conclude, a must have album, but get 'up the bracket' aswell, because many people see that as even better than this one.

This is one of my all time favourite albums I've ever bought. I purchased it when it first came out in 1996. The one thing I love about this is that it's very unusual at times with some very interesting chord structures. Unlike a lot of artists this album doesn't have any fillers as all the songs are top notch. It even features a brilliant trumpet solo in the track Kevin Carter. This album should really get the same critical acclaim as Pink Floyd's The Dark Side Of The Moon as it is trully excellent as I'm sure it's allready a classic.

I was never in to Suede at the time, I dismissed them as playing up the MM/NME and something built up by the fawning press. (I did side with Suede on the issue with mockneys Blur) I was a Manic Street Preachers fan, that was that.
I bought this CD on a whim that I should at least give them the chance I didn't give them at the time, I quite liked one or two tracks so why not?
Boy did I make a mistake, Suede, I was wrong.
I adore this collection and it's been a regular player on my CD for the last 18 months.
Catchy, involved melodies, dark, beautiful and shiny. Delivered with more feeling for it's subject matter than say Pulp, it draws you in to an all too familiar world (for some of us). Great band, great music.

Not since the 'Clash' or 'Reservoir Dogs' has a debut been so good, seriously this album is near to perfection; something that has only been achieved by their self titled second album. If you have reservations due the media's portrayal of 'Doherty' ignore them and buy this regardless... and then buy the second album.

The Libertines are one of the best bands to come out of Britain in the past ten years with an extensive back-catalogue of b-sides and demos that would have been perfect on a cd like this. Fact is, "Time for Heroes" only contains a couple of songs that aren't on the two albums - and the most obvious of songs at that. The tracks here are undeniably brilliant - with "Up the Bracket", "Tell the King" and "Don't Look Back into the Sun" as the highlights - but any Libs fan worth their salt knows the true talent lies in all the songs that have been missed off. Where is "Never Never"? Where is "Skag and Bone Man"? "Cyclops"? "Dilly Boys"? "Bucketshop"?
This album has clearly been compiled by people who know nothing of the real Libertines, hoping to make a quick buck. If you want to find out ... Read More:

Gaz Coombes and pals had it made. A number one album with their critically acclaimed debut 'I Should Coco' and a top 3 single with the perennial 'Alright'. As an incredibly tight three piece they made a big, big sound and received consistently rave reviews for their live shows.
Over the years Supergrass's star may have diminished somewhat - they are probably more Radio 2 now than Radio 1 - but a recent support slot at Wembley Stadium with the Foo Fighters ably proved that the band can still pull out all the stops when required.
This compilation is a couple of years old now but, with the recent high profile Wembley gigs and their own well recieved shows keeping the group in the public eye, there has never been a better time to revist the singles that kept us smiling through the 90's and ... Read More:
