Closer was obviously a massive hit and coupled with Neyo's Radio 1 live lounge performance, it got me thinking this Ne-Yo fella wasn't bad at all. Then out comes Miss Independent with that addictive rhythm and great pad sound. I thought, it's time to buy...
Disappointed is an understatement. If you take those two great tracks out you wouldn't look twice at this album.
Lesson of the day, always pre-listen to the tracks through iTunes before buying. In this case, buy the two tracks through iTunes and forget the album.

Heard this at a virgin record shop, bought it on the spot, a truly stunning cd. wonderful clear lyrics a must for any record collection

I'm Prompted to write this review because the balance needs to be readdressed. Who can say this album warrants 5 stars!? What's wrong with these people? Here's my brief, metaphoric review.
Imagine two slices of fresh bread sandwiching a massive dog turd, that's this album. The opening and closing tracks are Skinner on form (The Escapist is right up there with his best work). The rest of this album is the turd, with the exception of track 6 which is alright. Imagine track 6 as an undigested nut within the turd that when washed could be eaten. Still, a rubbish sandwich.
It's a shame after the genius of his first two albums his music is becoming so poor. Still, only one more left before he packs it in.

I'm not from the US, my family hail from Kashmir and I was born in the UK, grew up listening to punk rock but WOW! The soundtrack literally drips with the era and place it hails from; every time I hear a snippet I swear I can feel the heat and smell the wheat - so amazing!
Release Date April 21, 2008
This is SUCH a good album, with Alex Turner's nimble vocals to the fore set amidst some sumptuous string arrangements which take you right back to the 60s.
I heard this first whilst browsing in a music shop and instantly it touched a chord - and it only grows on you from there, with different songs staying in your head for days. You feel like dancing down Carnaby Street in your crushed velvet jacket when this is playing, with Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased of course) at your side. Trust me - and buy it. My album of the year.
Release Date September 15, 2008
As innovative, personal and perfect an offering I have heard for many a year. Masterful songwriting, beautifully produced, with each track a stand-out, yet the running order is total synergy. Buckingham returns with a tour de force. Pure Genius...buy it, you won't be dissapointed.

to jiinyus and adam reed... you obvious wouldn't know a good album if it slapped you across the chops. i'm 47, yes 47, but if i was 20 again, i would be proud to release an album as good as this. their entire back catalogue is a testament to their skills as songwriters and musicians and this offering is no exception. in 5, or even 10 years time, when all the hype and "boy band" labelling rubbish is just history, this will STILL be a good album. if you like good modern rock music, get it. if you're happy with leona lewis warbling out of your speakers at you like some whitney houston/mariah carey lovechild/clone, then you know what to do.
Release Date October 13, 2008
The first three songs are a pathetically transparent rip-offs of Berlin period Bowie (seriously, I really believe Bowie could sue for royalties on the third track - it's "Ashes to Ashes" dumbed down) before the album returns to the usual boring Keane fare.
How that can be described as "truly original" I'm not sure.
Release Date September 22, 2008
This set is worth the price of admission just to hear Dave dust off Fat Old Sun, which was a shameful omission from PF's Echoes collection. A beautiful melody which is played acoustically but just when you think it's over Dave plays a blistering electric solo. Just awesome!
