Weather Report was always the far most important band within the jazz-rock idiom, a fact that even becomes more clear in retrospect. In my opinion, all of the albums from 1974 through 1980 are all of them classics, each album paving the way for new types of musical expressions, influencing musicians worldwide. Out of this outstanding firmament, three of them shines even more: "Mysterious Traveller" (1974), "Heavy Weather" (1977) and "Night Passage" (1980). These are probably the faves among most hardcore Weather Report fans. On "Night Passage", the miraculous trio Zawinul, Shorter and Pastorius is followed by great drummer Peter Erskine, and the exciting percussionist Bobby Thomas Jr. This group was pure magic, I was lucky enough to see them ... Yes, Ted Nugent is something of a loon. When a guy can play guitar this good, do we really need him onstage in a loincloth or similar revealing his lunchbox? No, we don't. Playing to a largely male dominated audience, oh no, no, no, no, no we don't. But whatever he might dress or be partly dressed in, you cannot argue, 'cos he's one hell of a guitar player, it's just a pity he doesn't wear jeans or something and just do it. But this is rock 'n' roll, and Ted's well-known for returning to nature and going out hunting with no more than a bow and arrow, so we put up and shut up, and listen to a guitar legend, regardless. Quite a few years down the line now, Ted recorded some great songs and albums, perhaps the first two were the best, then he got ... Read More:

Anyone looking for the customary "Hits 61" compilation, in competition with the latest "Now 60" from EMI/Universal, will have had difficulty, because this is it. Warners were either not asked or declined to contribute, so the vast majority of tracks come from the newly merged Sony-BMG labels and, actually, so long as you're over 30, it's quite a bit better than some previous issues.
It is decidedly middle-of-the-road, with much less emphasis than there used to be on the club/dance tracks, which are largely confined to the end of CD2 - there is in fact very little here that you won't hear from time to time on Radio 2! But it does have its moments - as well as, heaven help us, G4, Westlife and Il Divo, some of the bright young hopes of ... Read More:

All the tracks here are from Dylan's most furtive period and the decade which saw his rise to fame: the 1960s. Every song offers something unique and diferent, and is proof of Dylan's genius, both lyrically and musically. However, the depth of work here only spans between two periods of his career:folk and electric and does not contain any of his majorly famous songs. These songs though, are just as good, many are even better, than his more famous songs. If you are into amazing lyrics or poetry and have never really listened to Dylan, buy this record!

Take every good memory of summer, slap a liberal dose of the 'luv'd up' and you won't come close to this retro feelgood classic with it's clever latin arrangements and blissed out vocals. Yes, you might think of a cheesy holiday program or two but don't fret all is revealed as something quite honest and infinitely listenable. A journey that filters through sunbeached memories and makes you don a pair of rosey tinted glasses and utter the imortal words of "I remember when dance music was good....blah, blah, blah...." (something about the good old days, etc).
If you need a soundscape for summer then this is it, or if you've got the winter blues, this will thaw them out. 'Since Then' is an emotionally sublime architype ... Read More:

Mr. Gone never enjoyed the deserved critical and commercial success of Heavy Weather, nor ever explored the depths of mood or groove that early albums as I Sing The Body Electric or Sweetnighter explored, yet it offered much great music that should have entitled it to more praise.
By then, 1978, the band had found their existence difficult to maintain. Zawinul and Shorter were clearly on to separate paths--along with Joe having a strong grip on the band's choice of material--and Jaco's mental illness and drug abuse was almost hitting unworkable levels.
Yet, they were still one of the most gifted groups of musicians that had ever joined forces--both as players and composers--and this album proves that the magic had not completely ... Read More:
She requests it when we get in the car, well I say request - she keeps going on about having "Bob on"! Every time a track finishes she says "more Bob"!.
The first two tracks are the two which were released as singles a few years ago, and they did quite well with the first one being a Christmas number 1 if I remember correctly.
She has a few kids music CDs, and to be honest, this is the best one. She has a Disney one but the sound seems tinny and quiet, whereas it is crystal clear on the Bob the Builder album. You don't wince when you know this CD is going to go on as it doesn't take itself seriously, and most of the tracks are well performed. I must admit though that I have to skip ... Read More:
