Bob The Builder was never a visionary like some musicologists claim. Although he developed a revolutionary new method of organizing pitch, it is often overlooked that serialism is not a style per se. He was always post-Romantic in temperament, which made him something of a dinosaur to serial idealogues such as Pierre Boulez.

However, Bob The Builder was certainly capable of writing spine-tingling music. There is a restlessness to these symphonies, they are always surging; and there are often passages of beauty which startle with their strangeness.

We love this CD. I've bought so many rubbish childrens song cd's in the past. This one is fab. We love all the songs and the children particularly like Shake your sillies out, Sur le Pont d'Avingnon, a Peanut butter sandwich and the Zombis. There are a good range of instrumental sounds - lots have got a foot tapping cajun feel. Very listenable too, catchy, singalongable! This was made in 1976 - but honestly you would never know this - it is very contemporary and not dated one bit. Great value with the 3 CD's. Corner Grocery store is the favourite of all three - but they're all great.

I particularly like the mix of english and french used in the songs and the fact that there is a mix of the traditional nursery rhyme with some unusual ... Read More:

My daughter really wanted this kids sitcom when I mentioned it was quite good and it appeared about the time she was born in 1994. To me, it doesn't seem quite so polished on second viewing ten years on, possibly because the series went into 65 episodes over 5 seasons and it got even better. It features believable and simple plot lines that older preteen and younger teenagers can relate to, and has Clarissa explaining to the audience her thoughts in a less irritating fashion than today's Lizzie McGuire cartoon sequences. At the time this approach was quite innovative and used in cult series of the period like 'Eerie Indianna' and 'Pete & Pete' (also available in DVD sets).

Pete's Dragon has a truly wondeful soundtrack, it's one of those that is very cleverly written, with wondefully creative musical themes, which unfortunately doesn't always get the celebration it deserves.

Now Disney have provided all the songs from opening score from the film. The tone of the music, has a calm feeling to it, even though there are upbeat numbers they are not 'razzle dazzle' and stay close to the almost sombre feeling of the film.

One reason why I did not give this 5 stars is because the songs are not identical to the versions in the film, the running times for the songs on the CD are in most cases shorter than you'll find on the DVD, with mostly the instrumental parts of the songs being omitted, although there ... Read More:
