A nice collection of songs and her voice doesn't grate as some female singers' voices do. I prefer the voice on this collection to albums featuring the voice of Susie Tallman whose voice I find altogether too high to be condsidered really relaxing. I note this says various artists and yet the album features one female voice throughout. Maybe it really is different singers but it doesn't sound like it when listening. I don't know why albums like this don't make it known the singer's name, it seem a little unfair that they have to remain anonymous, especially when the renditions are as nice as this.

One night singing nursery rhymes to my son and searching my memory for some new refrains, I suddenly remembered Nilsson's magical tale of 'The Point' that I would listen to as a child over 30 years ago. I have not heard the album since then, but I can still recall many of the melodies and words (and indeed emotions engendered) and I now want to share them with my boy. I also remember a fab illustrated booklet that went with the vinyl version (I think it was a printed booklet and not the cartoon I remember??, and I asked my parents if they still had it. Sadly the booklet has been lost but they still have the record - however I no longer have a record player so I am very pleased to find I can now get a version on CD! I can't wait for it to drop ... The Little Mermaid

I have always loved Walt Disney's The Little Mermaid so was quite shocked that they was a cast recording of this film. The question being, would I like this musical? Well the answer is YES. This Broadway cast recording has all the songs from the film plus some new show tunes. My personal favourite is Kiss The Girl but I think that will have to take second place, as my favourite song in this new musical is called If Only. That song to me is outstandingly beautiful. Four of the main characters singing about things that matter to them. If you loved the cast recording of Beauty And The Beast and Mary Poppins, then this is just for you. I give this Broadway cast recording 10/10 it's that great.

The film was pretty good, thoug didn't always work. Nicholson was the star, Basinger just screamed !!!

As for the music well overall it was much better than the film. 'The Future' starts us off, a terrific funk workout pinctuated with snippets from the film and tender strings which really resonate. 'Electric Chair' is an altogether ballsier affair with 'The Joker' confessing he is a bad man and always will be. Then we come to the weakest tracks on the album. 'Partyman' was featured in the film (not all here were). It's a funky jam, definetely toe tapping but not the most memorable, though the scene where 'The Joker' is wrecking the art gallery in which this track features is. Definiteley John Williams's finest of the Star Wars Saga!
Favourite pieces: Anakin's Betrayal (Order 66), The Immolation Scene (Vader burns) & The Birth of the Twins and Padmé's Destiny (basically Padme's funeral & the Vader/Palpatine/Tarkin scene)
Dark & heavy, a fitting climax - very moving & emotional music.

The Bonus DVD is great too!
