I'm a big fan of the Ministry of Sound's more laid-back collections, and the Chillout series is a great way to be introduced to 'intelligent' artists and styles you won't often hear elsewhere. But this album is a long way short of some of the earlier efforts, and I question whether many of the tracks are Chillout at all.
The best Chillout tracks are a downbeat blend of electronic drum & bass, samples and novelty synthesiser noises with more traditional accoustic instruments and vocals, in just the right proportions to send a mellow ripple through your body. There is almost none of that here.
It's not that they aren't fairly decent music, rather they just don't belong to this genre: if you feel yourself wanting ... Read More:

Basically, this album does what it says on the tin; it's a collection of short classical pieces that are soothing on the ear. So far, so common. But what I enjoyed particularly about this album was the eclectic nature of some of the pieces, particularly the inclusion of Izzy's "Going Home" and Batt's "Love in Slow Motion".
Both CDs offer a good mix of the old and well loved (e.g. Bach's "Sheep May Safely Graze"), and newer, and perhaps less familiar pieces. And I can't be the only Harry Potter fan pleased to find John Williams's score here!
All in all, I found this to be an enjoyable and well put together compilation, and I would recommend it if you are looking for a chillout CD that is slightly out of the ordinary.

I am not usually a Chillout music fan, but this album totally swayed me. It's brilliant for relaxation, but without being boring. Each song is totally individual yet still really haunting and calming. I can't really describe how good it is, but whatever music type you enjoy, you will still love this album.

Listening to CDs 1 and 2 of this compilation is like listening to two entirely different albums. Whilst CD 2 "Dawn" is as delightful as you'd expect from the excellent "Classic Chillout" series, with its soaring strings and choral harmonies to send shivers down the spine, they have decided to fill CD1 "Dusk" will dull, minimalistic thudding trance tunes. There is the odd commercial track from the likes of Moby and Leftfield, but let's face it, what self respecting chillout fan doesn't own these tracks already? On the other hand, CD2 introduces the listener to an array of beautiful haunting melodies. The particular highlight for me is Louis Clarke's "Moonlight River in Spring", combining oriental flutes and cymbals with bubbling synthesisers. ... Read More:

A classic cd. Track 3 is very reminesscent of miles davis middle section of "peace" from in a silent way. This cd goes beyond the end of miles davis life and music. It also has a mix of fat boy slim sounds but is far more muscical and interesting to listen too.

I was a dancer and now do Pilates to keep fit. I love these tracks as they suit a chilled out or more challenging workout. I find this music helps me concentrate and get the most from my Pilates session. I can also take it with me when I travel and it gets me in the mood to stretch and tone.
