The best place to start for anyone thinking of buying an Orb record as it's got most of their best tunes edited down to a nice length and offers one classic after another. Even if you already own the albums it's still worth getting this 'best of'. My one complaint is that there's no tracks from Orbus Terrarum (aside from having Oxbow Lakes as a secret track) which is a shame as it would be nice to hear a radio edit of Slug Dub. Still an essential purchase.

Not your run of the mill money spinner from the record agencies, this album really actually tries to "chill" you out, I have a lot of great memories to some of the tracks on this album so i just had to buy it again after the first one was accidently killed! Bearing in mind i dont usually BUY albums, this should be explanation enough!! well worth buying by anyone who knows a good chill out album when they hear one, Happy Listening.

If you are looking for another smokers delight, then you will be rather unhappy with this cd - it IS mostly trip hop, there are some good tracks on this disk but it is not nearly as mello as previous titles like car boot soul etc. You are better off getting stoned and listening to white noise.

I bought this at the Cafe del Mar, having just watched the sun go down whilst sipping champagne and cocktails with a friend. Beautiful. Three days later our car was broken into and my bag was nicked, with this inside. Less beautiful. Suffice to say I'd grown to love this album enough by that point to be replacing it now I'm home. Everyone's got volume 5. Be different...

While Thievery Corporation's first full album is less sophisticated than their later outings its rawer, less "crafted" style means that its best tracks have a distinctly more exciting edge. "The Glass Bead Game", "So Vast is the Sky" and ".38.45" just jump out of the speakers with their highly infectious mix of electronica, hip-hop & dub while "Shaolin Satellite's" drivingly addictive beats and multi-layered swathes of organs & sitars put it up there with the very best of the whole electronica/dance scene. Others drift, often much too languidly, between genres giving a rambling and disjointed feel to the album as a whole but, if you're a fan of Thievery Corporation or of high quality downbeat "world" music then what's good on it is too good to miss. ... Judging from the rest of the reviews, a lot of people like this album. But I'll bet there's quite a few GA fans who are mightily disappointed with it too. It sounds like GA trying to make a MOR pop/rock album. And for me, with the exception of one or two tracks, it just doesn't work.

British band Smoke City debuted with "Flying Away," a lush trip-hop album with some hints of sultry South American music woven in there. Imagine Portishead doing bossa nova and samba, and you'll have some idea of what "Flying Away" is made up of.
Starting off with the fluidly sensuous "Underwater Love," the album jolts into the smoky, thumping "Devil Mood," sexy ballads (the slow "With You," the gentle "Giulietta), shimmery Latin music ("Numbers," the pleasant "Aguas De Marco"), and opulent trip-hop ("Dark Walk") before wrapping up with the sweet title track.
"Flying Away" is one of those albums that you just can't pin a label on. To call it one thing -- Latin music, trip-hop, jazz -- would be to leave out everything else this album is. ... Read More:
