This is probably the best Hillsong CD so far if you actually want to use the songs in church worship. The songs are both contemporary in sound and singable. Here contemporary means having a definite 80's pop/rock influence, much like a lot of music that has got into the charts in this decade.
First song `Let Creation Sing' has a Belinda Carlisle vibe, `Salvation Is Here' has chiming guitars resurrecting the sound of Big Country. `His Love' starts with a classic 80's base line, but then goes rather soft , `Emmanuel' is a standout slow song of worship to our `Shepherd King' that fires on all cylinders: good lyrics, good tunes, good arrangements, good worshipful performance.
There are weaknesses: the many exhortations ... Read More:

I bought this having only heard "Held", which Radio 2 have been playing a lot. Although that is the best song, this is a classy cd which I am enjoying immensely. I really like her voice, and there are some excellent songs here. "The real me" and "captured" could easily be singles. There are no poor tracks at all. At times she sounds a bit like Avril Lavigne which is fine in my book. If you like "Held", you should not hesitate and buy this fine record.

Blessed by a broken heart sound like your typical emo band with regards to their name, but when you listen to them you will know they are far from emo, mixing the cheesy side of 80s rock with a modern metal feel these lads have a unique sound, that much cant be disputed.
The band have a metalcore feel to them, the screams, the clean chorus and the punch that goes with it and they mix that with a van halen sound, synth and keyboards racxe along with solid slabs of riffs, the lyrics are very cliche of the 80s,something that you may have heard on early motley crue albums, and the odd ballad is also evident, they probably wont become a big name but they have some good moments,i suspect though that some of the shine of this will fade in time but for now i ... This is another one of those CD's I keep buying extra copies of to give away! It is an utterly moving and joyful experience on the ear and heart.
These guys obviously have a huge love of their God and of giving Him praise in song. Their lyrics are punchy, honest and blend fantastically well with their melodic rock style.
From the strength and gentler paced songs "How great is your love" and "Fall down" to the passion of "On my way to You" (which contains the wonderful line "teach me to think like You think") and the sheer celebration of "Call to worship" and "In You", this is an album that just makes you want to sing. If "Here am I" doesn't stir your heart to reach out to other people, you have more stone in there than you ... Read More:

First heard of Michael Card through his association with John Michael Talbot, the Franciscan minstrel who once played for a Chicago folk rock group of the early 70's,namely Mason Proffit.
Card, a Tennessee man of many talents, is an accomplished folk musician, with millions of records sold since the early 80's.
The Promise: A Celebration of Christ's Birth (1991), is a beautifully unravelled look at the Nativity of the Christ Child. It is especially relevant around Christmastide, as it's soothing strains help to negate the soulless ranting around filthy lucre at this time of the year.
Some of the tunes embed themselves in the subconscious and are a joy to hear again after a period of absence. Immanuel, this version, is brought ... Read More:

This is one of those albums that can withstand near-endless replays without ever getting boring. It has so many different moods to it, from the edgy rock of tracks like 'Work' and 'Good Monsters' to the haunting 'Oh My God' and the poetic 'Surprise'. The lead singer's voice is wonderfully expressive. For me, the best element of this album is the thoughtful, intelligent, and honest lyric writing.
