My first thought when I heard Amy Grant was releasing a best of Christmas CD was "Why?" But I quickly thought about the artists who release best of's after three regular releases. And Amy's oldest Christmas release was in 1983, so my question became "Why not?" And, suddenly, I found myself first in line to buy it the day it came out.

Now keep in mind that I love Amy's first two Christmas releases and enjoy the third. There was no way I was seriously going to miss this.

The CD is made up of 18 tracks, four of which are new. The disc opens with "Jingle Bells." Now this isn't your normal version but the version made famous by Barbra Streisand on her first Christmas album 40 years ago. People seem to fall into either ... Read More:

Holding Nothing Back

I am a big fan of Tim's and already have 'when silence falls'. That made me search for other albums of his, I found this one on amazon and as I listen to it a lot,find myself worshipping without even thinking as the songs are so heartfelt. Hope he makes another soon.

The Beautiful Letdown

For me this cd is about as good as Learning to Breathe (which is awesome too). If you don't like that album you might like this it is a bit different. It is a variation of alt rock that is defo not boring or samey and they have a billiant balance of feeling, tecnhical skill, and originality.

The only one minor criticism I have is that the new "Dare You To Move" is uncannily similar to the original apart from a few different drum and vocal motifs and a slight change in guitar sounds. But who cares? Its an awesome song anyway!

They have included some great lyrics which are not overtly Christian as in contemporary worship like Tim Hughes or Hillsong United. There is, of course, a place for both.

I BOUGHT THE ALBUM LIFESONG BY THE CASTING CROWNS AND IT IS AN ABSOLUTE STUNNER. THEY SOUND SO MUCH LIKE NICKLEBACK. THEY ARE THE CHRISTIAN NICKLEBACK. THE SONG "SET ME FREE" JUSTIFIES MY POINT. WITH AWESOME ROCK ANTHEMS AND AMAZING WORSHIP SONGS THE ALBUM LIFESONG IS DEFINATELY UP THERE WITH THE BEST.

THIS ALBUM "CASTING CROWNS" IS ANOTHER STUNNER. THE FIRST 6 SONGS ARE AWESOME. THE LAST 4 LET THE ALBUM DOWN SLIGHTLY (BUT THAT IS BECAUSE THEY SET SUCH A HIGH STANDARD WITH THE FIRST 6 SONGS). I WOULD RECOMEND BOTH ALBUMS TO WHOEVER LOVES THEIR MUSIC. THESE ALBUMS WILL HAVE TO BE ON EVERY MUSIC FANS SHELF. IF YOU LOVE NICKLEBACK, THEN YOU WILL LOVE THIS ALBUM.

The Bird and the Bee Sides

I have every Relient K album and EP to date, considering myself as a huge fan. I pre-ordered this album upon hearing about it's release, and when it arrived this morning, I was filled with exictement.

The album contains both new and remixes of older songs from other EP's and LP's. Their music seems to improve with every CD they release, both in Matt Thiessens vocals and piano, and the guitars played by Hoopes, Warne and Schneck. Ethan Luck has also done a very good job on the drums as a new addition to the band.

If Christian rock is your thing, you might like this CD. Although some lyrics have religious meaning or relevance, I'd say that Relient K are probably more of an Alternative Rock / Punk / Pop band who happen to be Christian. ... Read More:

It's a Wonderful Christmas

Michael W. Smith has released two previous Christmas CDs, and they are staples of my December. This new release will be taking an honored place beside them in my December rotation.

This release is a combination of his two previous releases. It mixes the choral feeling of the first one with the pop of the second one. And, as something new, he mixes in lots of instrumental pieces. 5 of the 11 songs are fully instrumental. But the orchestra sounds wonderful.

What is truly amazing is that this release sounds Christmassy from start to finish from the very first listen. Only one track, "What Child is This" is a traditional piece. Michael wrote or co-wrote everything else. Yet everything feels like an old familiar friend.

A truly wonderful uplifting album. All of the tracks are superb. Deeply relaxing, and raise your spirits making you feel thankful for living. This is an album for anybody who has a spirit within them,who feels low or lonely or just as a pick -me -up. buy it and try it!!
