I had not heard any music by this group prior to borrowing a copy of this album - however, this is an excellent Christmas album. As you would expect from a gospel group, they focus almost exclusively on the religious aspect of the festival, the sole exception being White Christmas. There is a different guest singer on each track except the opening and closing tracks, which are without guests.
With any album featuring a variety of guests, one's favorites depend to some extent on one's opion of the various guests. For example, my favorite guest is Shelby Lynne, who does a fine duet of The Christmas song - however, it's not quite my absolute favorite track. That distinction goes to Chrissie Hynde singing In the bleak midwinter, ... Read More:

One of the Best Christmas Albums of all-time. I have the C.D ,and the video, and the cassette. I play them every xmas and it just gets better. Dolly wrote most of the Carols and they are as good as the old classics. Great songs ,well sung by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. Very seasonal . Love it!!!

I love all the artists from this album (Jimmy eat world a bit dissapointing), however I expected a bit more from the album. For example, a chrismukkah album with no Jewish songs? Surely not! Eels' Christmas is going to the dogs has to be my favorite - very entertaining. May I also add I do not know what they were thinking by missing out Seth's very own Chrismukkah song that we are privalaged enough to hear the first line or so in the second chrismukkah episode. For an OC fan like my self - it's a must!

A fun CD which will appeal to the sports lover, music lover and history lover in equal measure. The idea is simple. "Play The Game" contains 17 British and American songs, each one about a different sport. The songs were written between 1862 and 1913.
Listeners are likely to be drawn to the songs which illustrate their favourite sports. Many golfers will recognise the plight of the player in "Caddie", written in 1900, who pleads with his caddie, ever more desperately, to 'get me right out of this mess'. Enthusiasts of British heritage will enjoy "The Eton Boating Song", the song of Eton College, where Princes William and Harry were educated. The CD contains a real historical curiosity: "A Hunting Morning" is a setting of a rare poem ... Read More:

This disc can be recommended enthusiastically to all admirers of Britten's work and also to newcomers. His genius and originality often show up most clearly when he writes for small forces. There are 33 items in total here, twelve in the Ceremony of Carols itself and twelve more songs in the collection entitled 'Friday afternoons' because that was when they were first rehearsed by his brother's pupils. Three others form a single group of settings of the highly individual and atmospheric Walter de la Mare, and the remaining six are isolated compositions from various stages of Britten's life, the Shakespeare number being accurately 'Fancie' and not 'Francie'. The Ceremony itself is set for trebles with a virtuosic harp accompaniment despatched with enormous panache ... Read More:
