Quite funny in parts with some clever musical numbers but is not really suitable for it's 12 rating. Perhaps the Board of Certification saw it was a cartoon and forgot about the profanity and sexual references. An animation for adults that is worth a look but with vastly greater alternatives.

Anyone who ever though Donna was just a Disco Queen, I say buy this CD! This is Summer at her best. Every song here is pretty true to the original classic Christmas Holiday songs. She sings every song with such warmth and heart that it truly makes you feel the spririt of Christmas! My favorites are the original tunes Christmas Spirit & Christmas is Here. White Christmas, I'll Be Home for Christmas and Breath of Heaven are all amazing! You'll be playing this CD every year! I say where is Christmas Spirit Vol 2??

This is an awful version of Missa Criolla and Navidad Nuestra. It sounds like someone decided they wanted to do a Barry Manilow version. To see what it should be like look for "Misa Criolla - Misa Flamenca". Unfortunately, that version only has the original Missa Criolla and not the Navidad Nuestra but it's a million times better than this slush. Alternatively, there's a Jose Carreras version which is a reasonable attempt. But not this. It's a total travesty of beautiful music.

It's amazing what happens when artists (re-)connect with things that are really meaningful to them. With "Mi Tierra" Gloria got back to the Cuban side of her Hispanic heritage and produced a milestone album. With "Abriendo Puertas" (opening doors) she mines the huge wealth of Colombian music to produce a veritable treasure trove.

The songs are based on different local styles, as the liner notes usefully explain. There's an amazing variety of rhythms - all irresistible. The melodies are catchy and Gloria delivers them with her customary warmth and assurance. This is an album with no truly dud tracks. With some very jazz inspired vocal harmonies and fabulous orchestral arrangements by Johnny Mandel here is a truly gorgeous album of festive favourites performed in the Transfers own inimatable style.
As you would expect from these seasoned performers the harmonies are full and rich. The combination of 2 male / 2 female vocalists allows for good opportunities for much invention and you would think that there were more than just the 4 performers singing.

The first track is Snowfall,a composition by Claude Thornhill from way back but the way it is performed here is stunning.The harmonizing and orchestrations sound fresh and modern giving this very old song a new lease of life.

McCreesh has repeated the successes of reviving the music and spirit of the Italian and German Renaissance with this double-disc set of a potential mass format for Epiphany. He revives one of Bach's smaller mass settings, and also gives us the gorgeous Cantata BWV65, among others. The playing, particularly from the horns, who use small, high-pitched horns for BWV65, is outstanding. Organ interludes and bells provide the atmosphere, though one wishes that he could have repeated the massed choirs from his Praetorius Christmas Mass, which provided such a strong finish on that disc. In the approach to Christmas, I encourage all Bach lovers to give this serious thought, to add a Baroque feel to their Christmas music this year.

Yes, the Slade hit was great in it's time, and then David Essex, John Lennon and everyone else all followed with Christmas songs that we are now bombarded with in every shopping centre from November right through to Dec 24th.

In the search for something different to play at Christmas, I came back to Donny Osmond; and I'm glad that I did. When you're all partied out to "Merry Christmas Everybody" and can't face another "War is Over" rendition, pop this on and enjoy some really rather "playable" songs with a gentle festive touch. Don't worry about the quality of the vocals as it all washes over you very nicely.
