In my honest opinion, no other song on the planet can reflect the spirit of christmas as these songs of Jim Reeves can. They are simply heavenly and only valued by those who still spiritually active to some extent.

I am an avid Moody Blues fan and bought this album last Christmas. I have since bought another copy for my wife. Like many other fans, I wasn't sure just how they would handle Christmas songs but I needn't have worried. They give every song their own unique, professional treatment and have such restful voices. I love this album and particularly December Snow, which I would rate as good as any track they have ever done (yes, as good as that!) If you like the Mooody Blues, or even if you are just looking for a good Christmas album, buy this! I couldn't believe how cheaply it was purchased from Amazon and I rarely stop playing it during the season.

This is a lovely double CD set. Mendelssohn solo piano music is beautiful and very escapist. Although I am a classical buff myself, I am buying a second copy to give to my fashionable electric guitar playing mate who wants to get into classical but doesn't know what he'd like. I reckon this stuff is hard to dislike and very accessible to classical newbes. I also have no complaints about Barenboim's performance/interpretation of these works.

I love Christmas music, from Home Alone to The Snowman and this CD with songs from and inspired by Ally McBeal's Christmas episodes is definitely a favourite! It contains brilliant vocals from all performers (from Ally to Larry to guests such as Macy Gray) and has some gorgeous arrangements. Whenever 'Run, Run, Rudolph' starts up I have to jump up and dance! It's addictive. I love Jane Krakowski's voice and she shines on her tracks. There's a good mixture of fast and slow, and can create a good atmosphere either for a cosy Christmas night or a lively party.
The stand-out track for me though is Robert Downey Jr's version of Joni Mitchell's 'River'. It's just perfect. Robert's gruff vocals make it so moving and soulful.....I have a hard time ... Read More:

Despite receiving strange looks from my husband, I played the above at full volume to get the benefit of the beautiful orchestration and vocals.
I wouldn't have put myself down as a huge fan of choral works, so it's either a sign of getting old or just that I have such fond memories of singing hymns at school [which, incidentally, I probably thought I hated at the time]; but I felt the hairs rise on the back of my neck as I listened to songs I haven't heard for 30 years, such as He Who Would Valiant Be and When a Knight Won His Spurs.
I felt quite sad listening to this CD and realising that due to current education policy, my own children will never become familiar with hymns like these, which are often poetic and moving even ... Read More:

A lot of people dislike the Medieval Baebes for being supposedly pretentious and beloved by pseudo-romantic Goth types - but that's basically just musical snobbery. I mean, come on - with a name like 'The Medieval Baebes', who's stupid enough to actually think they're aiming to appeal to lifelong Medieval Music scholars?
Really, you get far more out of them if you stop thinking of them in relation to other classical music and just love them for what they are - which is accessible, charming and unpretentious Medieval-esque choral loveliness.
The middle-english (or occasionally Latin) lyrics will probably not make sense to your average listener - (best to look at the sleeve notes before you attempt a sing-along!), but if you're ... Read More:

I've been an Osmond fan since 1970. What a wonderful Christmas CD this is. This UK release (2001) has 18 of the 20 songs from their 1976 Chirstmas vinyl album. It's missing 2 of the songs ( "Christmas Waltz" and "A Very Merry Christmas") but if you have the USA CD (1991-release 12 songs) then you have the "Christmas Waltz" song. This UK CD also has the only 3 songs that the Osmonds wrote on their vinyl album. Which are "Sleigh Ride" an upbeat song and my favorite on this CD, "It Never Snows In L.A." sung by Jimmy and "Old Fashioned Christmas" sung by Donny. I have the vinyl album and it's great having it on CD now. No more pops or crackling noises. The harmonies of the brothers are awesome. And Marie's voice sounds beautiful as always. You'll ... This DVD is worth it for the last 2 tracks alone. Duets with Zuccero and Sarah Brightman, the rest is a bonus. As for the poor picture quality mentioned in a previous review - it is shot in high contrast - for effect in my opinion. I am a photographer so picture quality is important to me. This is within DVD quality tolerance.
Summary: - WONDERFUL - BUY IT.

The movie is sweet and so is the soundtrack.
Hearing the 'witch doctor' track always brings a smile to my face.
All in all this CD is like Marmite...you'll either love it or loathe it : )
