I bought this album in 1975 when I was at school and loved it and still do.The atmosphere of a live rock concert is captured perfectly complete with guitar and synthesizer tuning, the odd bum note, "chewing gum being stuck on the boot" of the late David Byron and songs which feature the Moog "simplifier" and Organ (?) Brilliant! All the tracks are excellent and indeed some like "July Morning" "Sweet Lorraine" and "Traveller in time" sounding far better than the original rather 'Lack Lustre' studio versions. "Gypsy" is superb with both synth and drum solo's. A real Must-Have album for any fan of 70's rock. "it's going out live tonight so make a lot of noise won't you"! Fantastic.. Play it LOUD!!!

Great Whitesnake album, stand out tracks for me are, Slide It In, Slow An' Easy, Guilty Of Love, this is the original U.K. mix that features Mell Galley and Micky Moody on guitar, it sounds like the classic Whitesnake rather that the Americanized Whitesnake of today

It was 1972 - I think - those days are all a bit hazy. Anyway, my mate asked if I wanted to get tickets for Alice Cooper and I replied as above. All of the schlock horror hadn't been visited on the UK yet so I was in complete ignorance. "It's not a woman you pillock - it's a band." he explaiined. This, the first ever British gig, would be in Birmingham. I wasn't too enthusiastic and asked what they were about. He explained that they had the longest hair of any rock band ever. That was good enough for me so we went. We went but the gig was postponed for four days 'cause they were delayed in immigration as undesirables. My new girlfriend said that they took a live snake on stage! The anticipation grew notorious.

Deep Purple's third album brings a close to their first incarnation. While this line-up isn't as highly-regarded as the one that follows, it still impresses. Rod Evans wasn't quite up to Ian Gillan's standard, but his voice suited the band's style. Where they are lacking is in that dynamism and flamboyance that characterises later recordings. 'Chasing Shadows,' with its exotic rhythm, gets the album off to a good start, while 'Blind' features a great baroque performance on harpsichord by Jon Lord. Unfortunately, the quality is uneven from here on. Much of the album's worth hinges on their take on T.S. Eliot's 'cruellest month,' 'April.' It opens with some Gothic organ and a mildly haunting acoustic guitar line, but the strings in the middle section are drab and unnecessary. ... Read More:

This was the first of three studio albums released after the departure of former founder member and vocalist David Byron with the potentially superb John Lawton at the helm joined by the brilliant bassist Trevor Bolder (formerly of David Bowie's Spiders from Mars) replacing John Wetton.
I remember at the time (1977) thinking that Heep were doomed without the charismatic Byron in front and my interest had started to wane after the rather lacking previous album 'High and Mighty' failed to excite me but I bought the album out of loyalty and quite liked it.
Listening to the remastered version today on CD with better hifi than I
had back then, this album stands up very well indeed.
There are some very good songs here, well produced and played and a huge improvement ... Read More:

This album is flawless, Led Zeppelin jamming though their greatest hits live. The most striking thing is the sound quality, it's clear and crisp and absolutely punchy! Led don't stop on this album, at all, each song sounds slightly improvised and jammed. The rock highlights, like Immigrant Song, kick you right in the ears and the slower numbers, like Thats The Way, pull at your heart, they're very emotional and heartfelt.
All in all, this album is like having a private Led Zeppelin concert in your room, and common, who wouldnt want that?

Most bands blow their energy on their early releases before honing their craft to produce something with depth. On this evidence, Judas Priest did it the other way round. 'Sad Wings Of Destiny' suggests a mature band, a well-structured work of linked tracks with a wide musical scope, yet without a track out of place. Whereas some see this as revolutionary, however, I feel its quality is more reminiscent of early 1970s rock than a foretaste of the all-hell-and-no-notion metal that dominated the 1980s. Uriah Heep, Mountain, Nazareth and UFO are among the bands that some of the passages remind me of, while the magnificent guitar interplay of 'Dream Deceiver' tends to recall Wishbone Ash. The subject matter meanwhile follows, to a limited extent, in the footsteps of Black Sabbath and Blue ... Read More:

This is undoubtedly one of the best Lizzy albums and indeed that last great one they did, after this we only saw/heard glimpses of Lynott's greatness. He was my hero growing up and this album was one of the reasons but it also shows the signs of the cracks that were starting to appear. Track selection is one bone of contention for me. I would've left off Sarah, it is a solo track not a Lizzy track, Get Out Of Here is filler and S&M is an interesting idea but not an album track and doesn't fit in here. Instead of these I would've added in Parisienne Walkways,
A Night In The Life Of Blues Singer, Dear Miss Lonely Hearts (the rocked up band version they occasionally played live), and last but not least I would add in King's Call this song is one of Lynott's best but instead of the Knopfler ... Read More:

My friend lent me his Just Push Play album in exchange for my Nine Lives. To begin with i was slightly dissapointed, it didn't seem to have songs which were as sleek as their previous hits, or quite as edgy as those on the Nine Lives album.
HOWEVER, like every good album its a grower. The albums i want in my cd collection are not those which i love straight away but get bored with (despite the majority opinion i find pink floyd - the wall boring and predictable) i want those which everytime i play them sound better and better.
If you like aerosmith you'll love this album, If you have an eccleptic taste in music you'll love this album. I think its great!
