'Sweet Freedom' released in 1973 at the height of their popularity is without doubt the best written, most consistant, best played and best produced album of them all even topping Demons and Wizards in my opinion for shere overall class blowing the previous album 'Magician's Birthday' out of the water and should have set the standard for the future.
It blasts off with 'Dreamer' - a heavy loud song full of Heep delights with about everything that one could want.. a fantasic air guitar opportunity here..
(Wah Wah by the bucket load), a great start quickly followed by the classic Heep favourite 'Stealin' which is still part of their live set today. Wonderful stuff. Next up is 'One Day' a short, sharp brilliant song which leads us ... Read More:

I could go on and on about Maiden. Probably one of the best Metal bands in the world ever. For a potted history of their music you needn't look further than this album. It hits the spot!!!
Release Date July 25, 1994
Okay. I bought this when it first came out way back when. To me each of the Bad Co albums seemed to lack something. The first was just finding their collective feet, the second they seemed to gel better but the song writing was not fully there. This just seemed a step back at the time. It smacks of commercial sellout. Some songs are good but there is now a formula in place albeit a viable one commercially. But there is nothing here that sounds like they are doing anything more than coasting.

I left Budgie alone for many years after seeing them described as 'pedestrian.' They may be many things, but after hearing this album, 'pedestrian' is one of the last words I'd think of. Most of their riff-laden music rattles along at a cracking pace and the less-frenetic moments, especially on 'Riding My Nightmare,' reveal their craftsmanship.
I had heard 'In The Grip Of A Tyrefitter's Hand' before and this is my favourite track, being intense and dramatic. 'Parents' is another highlight and the acoustic version is a welcome bonus. Throughout the album, however, there's so much going on. It isn't all about heavy-riffing, though they do have more licks than an affectionate dog. There are many effortless mood changes and Ray Phillips does a lot more than ... Read More:

now listen to me people - pay no attention to amazons review or indeed to the other reviewers. this is far and away from being this bands best album and it is in NO WAY a heavy metal album.
dont get me wrong, i like b.o.c - they were a very interesting band, but they were very, very unreliable. very hit and miss. nearly every album has something of value, and when they got it right they produced some great songs, but the lukewarm outweighs the great by a long margin.
nowhere is this more evident than on this album. where all these reviewers are mentally in comparing this to sabbath i have no idea. its laughable! this is very lightweight rock. the only heavy things on here are the song-titles which all sound menacing but the content doesnt live ... Read More:

Excellent album - top notch production & audio.
Recorded Live on 24/09/1969, this is a forerunner for such masterpieces as Metallica's S&M etc.
2 Disc Set - disc 1 is the band themselves minus orchestra, including a belting Child In Time with a cracking Blackmore solo.
Disc 2 offers up the orchestra & band collabaration - It is really good stuff, specially composed by Jon Lord & the Classical sections are often reminiscent in style of Holst's The Planets suite. It's big, bombastic stuff. Ok, it's not as heavy as the Symphonic Metal of today, and in places it's a little dated (usually due to the Hammond Organ which is a very 60's/70's style sound) but it is still really, really good!
The musicianship from both camps is amazing and it's a prime ... Read More:

After getting into maiden i decieded to see what bruce solo was like. His "best of" blew me away so i then got this. My idea of a perfect album. Some heavy songs "Abduction", softer and lyrical songs like "Navigate the seas of the sun" and songs that get you blood flowing "power of the sun". Any maiden or hard rock/ metal fan would love this. Bruce is my hero because he has only had one bad album "Tattooed Millionaire" in any band he has been in. A rock ledgend. Get this magnificent album now. Your proberly reading this wondering if he is any good without maiden. The answer is that he is better.

This album has garnered mixed reviews over the years. In '79, it was seen as an almost-renaissance. I think this did a disservice to the two previous albums, Run with the Pack, and Burning Sky; that's another story, though. Desolation... is certainly a good record in its own right, but is not very immediate. A grower, then? Yes, George, a grower.
The hard-rock side was very well covered. Rock'n'Roll Fantasy had the sort of heavy, menacing groove that Rainbow had used the year before (Lady of the Lake, and LA Connection, both from Long Live Rock'n'Roll). Gone Gone Gone showed how good a songwriter Boz Burrell (RiP) was; Joe Walshian humour with funky hard rock. Darn great! Evil Wind is an inspired number too (and this time Rainbow used a Bad Co song as blueprint - hear No Release, ... Read More:
