I recently got this after waiting for ages for if to come down in price!!! Been a huge Kiss fan since Love Gun, Double Platinum (late 70's!)and have over 60 Kiss albums in my collection, so was really chuffed at the prospect of demos, unreleased stuff, live versions etc, and I have to say, I have mixed views. How many times do they need to release stuff already available elsewhere! Surely this set should have been made up entirely of rarities etc?
Slightly disapointed but highlights include the demos and recordings from the early days, which are really cool to hear.
Packaging as always is superb- lots of cool pictures etc., but alot of the commentry stuff is already available in the book "Behind the Mask".
There has to be a "Box ... Read More:

Sandwiched between the pure Heavy Metal of British Steel and the full frontal attack of Vengeance lies the somewhat Americanised and commercial Point of Entry album. It therefore sits pretty much as Turbo does between Defenders and the truly lamentable Ram it Down record and suffers by comparison in the same way (ie it is simply not aggressive and heavy enough). However, like Turbo it has an airy, summery feel good factor to the music (especially if cranked up loud) which is admirably demonstrated on the excellent single `Hot Rockin' and the opener and long standing crowd pleaser `Heading Out to the Highway'. `Desert Plains' adds a depth of colour to the general proceedings (again a live favourite) supporting a big riff and thoughtful vocal melody ... The thing with Vixen, there's a wiff of manufactured band around it.
When you record your first album, most of the songs, if not all, should be yours. Allegedly, those are the songs you have built your reputation on around the club circuit and got you the record deal. So how come when you look at the writing credits there are so many non band members involved?
But then, you know what? The result is not so bad. The opening track is an instant classic. And there are quite a few rockers in the album to make it an enjoyable listen throuhout. The production is polished, with a clean sound that makes it radio friendly, ensuring your ears won't tire of it.
It is definitely a worthy addition to any rock collection.
BOC's first album is a curious blend of psych flavoured heavy rock with a penchant for the macabre, a twist of evil and a predilection for sci-fi weirdness that makes it a thrilling debut and the first in their (un)Holy triumvirate completed by the awesome `Tyranny & Mutation' and the genius of `Secret Treaties'. One look at the bizarre song titles like `She's as Beautiful as a Foot' and `I'm on the Lamb but I Ain't no Sheep' will have the uninitiated scratching their heads and wondering what to make of this offering from the band that gave the world the Byrdsian classic `Don't Fear The Reaper', but step inside and the singular presence of the Cult's unique brand of heavy rock will make for a fantastic journey. This album aint really a classic. The song that are worth mention are Turn Up The Night, Voodoo, The Mob Rules & Falling Of The Edge Of The World all masterpieces and all featured on their album The Dio Years, so i'd advise you to purchase that album. Most of the songs here lack their passion for the music, as some of the lyrics shouldnt be on a black sabbath song. I mean since when did Dio or black sabbath write a song about a country girl? Now this would be ok if they put more effort into the music but they didnt. I aint one of those people who says this is crap cause it aint black sabbath no, because Heaven And Hell is amazing, this aint it does have some wicked songs which are all featured on The Dio Years the rest arn't worth mentioning. If you have Heaven ... Read More:

So this is a rock album. and the point is? Whilst this album is the worst of Bruce's solo career (not that that is saying much since it was exceptionally good) it shows adifferent side of him. the album may take time to grow on you but it does grow. best song? the title track. worst? gypsy road. the album is really good and i think it is fair to say that bruce decided that he would stick to what people wanted from him after this album. and why? i'll never know.

I am writing from Lima, Peru, South America, and I would like to say, in first place, that I do adore Mr. Coverdale's voice, he is one of the greatest singers in the entire world and I grew up listening his amazing style up to now.Let's talk about this CELEBRATION: as usual, some people will agree with the track selection, while others won't. Well, I'm in the middle, my only complain is about some songs: where are Wherever You May Go, Take Me for a Little While and Don´t Fade Away? EMI could have done a better selection, but, after all, if yoy are a hardcore fan of Whitesnake, at least, you must be excited with this selection. Cheers David, long live to the king of blues.

As you can see from this release's dull artwork and naff title, on the outside, this reissue has all the imagination and aesthetic appeal of a cold hamburger on a Monday morning. It's the kind of compilation you'd probably ignore in the rack of your local music emporium. "Gold" for God's sake!! So why review it - and should you give it the time of day? Because of what's contained on the "inside".
I've had various compilations throughout the years in order to have Steppenwolf tracks in my collection - both British and American issues - and some like 'The Beat Goes On' British 2CD set of the first two albums - are excellent. But they are all rendered redundant by this fantastic 2CD anthology. The difference lies in the STUNNING RE-MASTERED SOUND engineered by ERICK LABSON. This ... Read More:
