This was the last Heep album to feature David Byron's unique vocals before he was replaced by the somewhat different singing style of John Lawton.
As a keen 16 year old Uriah Heep fan, I rember buying this record on the day of release and rushing home to play it. Hmmmm ... after 'Return to Fantasy' which was a respectable quite heavy effort, I remember being a little bit perplexed as to what was going on here. It opens with (what turned out to be) John Wetton and Ken Hensley singing 'One Way or Another' which is an Ok song but where was Mr Byron? Eventually though David arrives and gives a good account of his talents with 'Weep in Silence' which is probably the best track on the album.
As for the rest, it's all a bit muddled in ... Read More:

Forget what everyone else is saying. This is a great album, it may not be the most popular with the (conservative) fans but for me and I'm sure many others this is a career high- Tyler said himself this was one of the best.
After 'draw the line' it is probably the most experimental/progressive album they made, ok it doesn't have Joe Perry what we have with is less bluesy more "straight" hard rock sound on 'Jailbait' and 'Lightning strikes'; cool Jazzy bar rock hybrid sound in Julie London cover 'Cry me a River'-very convincing one of my favorite Aerosmith recordings; 'Joanie's Butterfly' is one of the highlight's with it's folksy sound and Zeppelin like lyric. 'Push comes to shove' finishes the album in style, well Tyler sound's ... Read More:

This album holds special meaning for me. It was the first KISS album I ever bought and about 40 or 50 have followed since. So naturally I always look back with fond memories of playing the record during that warm spring of 1998. And I still love the album to this day. As with Crazy Nights, it gets a lot of criticism and I feel most of it is unwarranted.
The three singles are fantastic; Rise to It and Hide you Heart are great songs and Forever is KISS' Beth on the 1980s. There are many other fine songs like Cadillac Dreams, Silver Spoon and Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell. The only downer on this album is the amount of filler. The band simply churned out (seemingly) every song they had scralled down over the last few months ... Read More:

If you want a 'Best of Rainbow' in the studio then yes, there are more appropriate albums: this was one for the fans. Studio B-sides, an unreleased studio track and the rest all live make this very nice for a fan of the band. Far from being a pointless release it was nice to get this!

This is an excellent CD, for a start there's the double disk compilation album of the top 20 maiden songs as voted by us, the fans. then there's a third cd with the pc game on it, where u control a private investigator, not eddie, and have to follow and protect eddie through the streets of london, hell, the future, you name it! it has to be a part of your collection just for the sheer novelty of an iron maiden pc game!

Bought this when it was released about 30 years ago. Having disposed of my record collection a few years ago, and not having listened to Never Say Die for many years, on a whim decided to get it on cd to complete my Sabbath collection.
Oh dear, all I can say it is one for the completists only.....I still don't like it! If it had been a seven track album it may have been acceptable, the last two 'Breakout' and 'Swinging the lead' are dire.

Great track list on "A Little South Of Sanity". I bought it right after it came out, and listened to it several times before selling it. I just couldn't come to terms with this CD...the noise of the crowd is way too prominent in the mix, which also manages to be both cluttered and slick, sanding away all of the grit.
Sure, there are many great songs here, but they're all swamped by the bad production. The sound is just not realistic, it's synthetic and flat, and I never got to like it. Weird, noisy album. And not in a good way.

Shame on me for losing sight of Thunder after being disappointed by the softer 'Giving The Game Away', to the point where not only did I not know they'd reformed, but I didn't even know they'd split up in the first place...and then I discovered this album and...well, wow!
With all the expected Thunder attributes back in place, this album is a spectacular return to form. A brilliant mix of classic heavy rock, funk, blues and soulful ballads, 'Shooting At The Sun' is easily on a par with their most critically acclaimed efforts 'Back Street Symphony' and 'Laughing On Judgment Day'.
And with genuine guitar-hero Luke Morley and the unfeasibly talented Danny Bowes at the helm, how could this band possibly get any better?
I can heartily recommend this release ... Read More:

The final of Alice's four early 80's "Electro New Wave" albums is by far and away the best of the four. Its funny, dark, twisted, and just plain weird. "Dada" Sets the scene in a perfect way. I don't know what the "sucking" noise on this track is supposed to be - a baby's dummy or something??
"Enough's Enough" is a classic piece of rebellion against a father. "Former Lee Warmer" a spooky tale of a deranged man locked in the attic by his brother. "No Mans Land" Contains some of The Coop's funniest lyrics ever. "Dyslexia" is a furiously bouncy song, and very catchy. "Scarlet And Sheba" is probably one of Alice's most raunchy songs ever - lyrically, and would not be lost on his more commercial "Trash" album.
"I Love America" is probably the albums worst song musically, ... Read More:
