While there's some great classic 70's metal, Iron Maiden's debut album seems to create a whole new world of heavy metal. Although Purple, Priest, Sabbath, etc. certainly paved the way, this album somehow takes all that was great in 70s metal (with an emphasis on METAL) and kicks it up a notch. The songs are fast, dark, mysterious, full of energy and great riffs. Although Maiden would reach new heights again and again throughout the 80s, the first album is so good at what it is that it still retains its classic status. The Amazon description (and Steve Harris) may mention a lack in production values, but with music this fired-up and rockin', it doesn't really matter. Honestly, you polish metal too much and it loses it's raw underground feel ... Read More:

This is my only Deep Purple album and I absolutley love it's such a good album each song is brilliant from start to finish. This is obviously most famouse for the famous rock riff Smoke On The Water how can you not like that song. The best songs are Highway Star, Picture Of Home, Smoke On The Water & Space Truckin'. Deffinetly a Rock album to buy and deffinetlty should be considerd a classic. DEEP PURPLE ROCK!!!!!!

This is one of the best albums of all time. The vocals are perfect, and the music matches it brilliantly. It is one of those albums that you will never tire of, and the songs will remain in your music collection forever. I can guarantee you will be playing this in the car for months, non stop, or in your stereo. Ensure you have loud speakers, cause these songs are meant to be loud! Just perfect.

This collection does "exactly what it says on the tin", i.e. delivers a comprehensive but unimaginative compilation of Bad Co's stand out tracks mainly from their first 5 albums. So far so good.
Unfortunately, it contains no reference at all to the elusive Live album nor does it give anything away regarding demo's or throw away recordings which make Songs Of Yesterday, the definitive study of Free's career, such a masterpiece.
I already owned all of the cd's but bought this because it enabled me to economise on space for my ever expanding music collection. Not much of a recommendation in itself. Good job the music is top notch.

This is another magical Iron maiden heavy metal masterpiece. The whole album is a classic and one of their best but it's impossible to pick a best iron maiden album. From the classic Aces High to the classic 13 minutes long Rime Of The Ancient Mariner it's all classic heavy metal. You may be reading the reviews seeing some people saying one song is bad on this album no their isn't this whole album is a masterpiece(as i mentioned already). If i had to pick some favourite songs it would be aces high, flash of the blade, powerslave & rime of the ancient mariner . This is the perfect start to Iron Maiden the albums Number Of The Beast, Piece Of Mind and this are the albums everyone should start off with with maiden. In fact why havnt you bought an iron maiden album ... Read More:

After hearing Backstreet Symphony on the radio I decided to give this band a try, with a name like Thunder and the band being unknown to me at the time, I thought this song would probably be the only great song on the disc with a mix of good and average songs, like most albums, but thought I`d give them a shot - How wrong was I!
The CD was put in my CD player and didn't come out for a good week - no - it was a great week! Every song is simply amazing and the more you listen, the better it gets. The album is full of head bobbing, air punching, classic rock riffs that could turn a funeral into a party, mixed with a few epic ballad type tracks, the amazing Love Walked In and Until My Dying Day along with a dash of humour from Englishman On Holiday it's just a great ... 'Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son' is the first Iron Maiden album I ever bought (quickly followed by everything before or since!) and I have to say it is one I still love after all these years. From the racing album opener 'Moonchild' to storming tracks such as 'Evil That Men Do', 'Clairvoyant' and 'Infinite Dreams' and more besides, this album produces one amazing song after another. In fact I'd go so far to say that this is one of those rare albums where every track is worthy of inclusion and adds to the overall feel of the album. This was initially snubbed by some Maiden fans for it's use of keyboards, but is often recognised as the classic it always was now hindsight can be applied. A great first port of call for new maiden fans, but be warned, like me, you will want to get their back ... Read More:

The last of Deep Purple's seventies albums to feature Ritchie Blackmore, this album is an uneven effort. Blackmore himself has never liked the album and stated so at the time of the record's release. When he chooses to apply himself, as on the fiery title track and the ballad 'Soldier of Fortune', the results are excellent. However, he is hardly in evidence at all on other songs and while Jon Lord and Glenn Hughes do their best to rally the troops, they have an uphill struggle on such lacklustre material as 'Love Don't Mean a Thing' and 'Hold On' (the first Purple original to lack a writing credit for Blackmore). Elsewhere, Glenn Hughes' vocal on 'Holy Man' is entertaining and the funk of 'You Can't Do It Right' holds the attention, but as a follow-up to the superb "Burn" album, "Stormbringer" can't help but disappoint. ...
