In my opinion, his is the group's finest album. Produced by Mike Kemp and the group, it boasts an excellent palate of songs, all with a brilliant sound. There's an international flavour to the selection with tracks about France, America, Mexico, as well as the Australia of the title.

"Was It You?" has a raucous humour; "Shakin' Like A Leaf" is nothing special, despite a good brass arrangement; and "Mayan Skies" is too disjointed under the Mexican sun.

A compilation of some of the sharpest work - and also some of the most irritating - by Detroit's second noisiest, second most incendiary rocking teen combo. The MC5 were loud, sloppy, pretentious and full of half-baked revolutionary nonsense, but they could kick ass, as witnessed by the finest tracks on this album: the legendary uncensored version of "Kick Out the Jams", an extremely murky but fun version of "I Can Only Give You Everything" (Phil Coulter's finest hour), their late masterpiece "Over and Over", a sort of "Won't Get Fooled Again" without the druggy grandiosity. Anthology

I'm not. I listened to the Adverts when "I was a lad" and I thought that I'd buy the Anthology albums on CD. Perhaps its because I'm an ol F**t but the music of today sounds really tame & bland compared to TV Smith's group which has stood the test of time. A much underated band who never really it made it to the big time. Tracks that were so relevant to the end of the 70's (Great British Mistake, One Chord Wonders etc) - all still excellent songs, What's todays generation got - if you're over 40 (like me) can you see any of today's songs standing the test of time?. What is needed is for some group to record these songs anew and release them into the charts.

ps Is T.O.T.P. still going ?

For the group's tenth studio album, they decided to title their album `10'. Love the cover, but I agree with Hugh Cornwell that by now the group had seemed to have run out of steam. Where is the politically-correct bite? Where is the politically-incorrect bite? What happened to the cynicism of the system? Instead, most of the songs possess bland safe lyrics that any other bland safe pop group would be proud to possess. This is such a disappointment after the wonderful `Dreamtime' album.

The only songs of note are "Sweet Smell Of Success" with its wicked congas and solo trumpet, the echo-rocker "96 Tears" and the harder-edged "Out Of My Mind". The track "In This Place" has a haunted hippy feel, as if it formed part of a concept album: `ghosts ... Read More:

Pleasant Dreams: Expanded and Remastered

Always overlooked by the reviewers who always seem to all write the same stuff. You know cartoon image, leather jackets, ripped jeans, 3 good albums, never changing etc. etc. You would be best to ignore them and Johnny Ramone(RIP) who always claimed The Ramones to be pure punk and dismissed this album and the excellent End OF The Century as garbage. He was wrong and so were those silly critics. This is pure pop, and the Ramones were one of the best pure pop bands ever. The melodies are amazing, total sunshine. In an alternative Universe this would have been no 1 with a smash and the kids would have danced in the streets with it on their ghetto blasters.
Buy all their albums up to this one (Sub..Jungle is not quite so magical) and remember them this way when Joey ... Read More:

Feeding of the 5,000

This is rough, raw, minimalistic sonic punk ok - frankly I am certain not many people could pull this off as brilliantly as they did. Plus this album stands the test of time. Why? Honesty, determination, attitude, unwavering political belief? Those guys had a message to deliver and they did it uncompromisingly their own way whether you liked it or not - form or substance! The sheer unadulterated energy delivered throughout this short bomb has made it a firm favourite of mine for approximately 20 years - and that just won't change.

Too Tough to Die: Expanded and Remastered

This album has so many memories for me. I used to listen to it every Friday night when I was getting ready to go out. Songs like Howling At The Moon, Danger Zone and Chasing The Night really got you in the mood for a great night out. A considerably heavier album than anything they had done previously but it felt very refreshing at the time and proved that the Ramones were adaptable for the eighties. Buy it, you won't be disappointed.
