Slaughter and the Dogs' 1977 debut demonstrates the problem most punk bands had. They made some great singles but sustaining that interest over an album was a different matter. The first half a dozen tracks sound great. They have quite a heavy but energetic sound. The opening track and 'Boston Babies' I particularly like. Unfortunately, the second half of the original album, while relentlessly pursuing the same style, is mainly composed of mediocre filler, burdened with vapid lyrics. This is most striking on 'Since You Went Away', which reveals the band to be pretty decent, but is let down by an embarrassingly trite lyric. The bonus track, 'Johnny T', is worth a mention, but this CD is only for collectors and enthusiasts of the genre.

That's Life

A classic sham 69 album. This is one of the most original punk album with the story line in between each track making it seem like the a day in the life of the average working class man. There are some real classic songs on here with the great hurry up harry and one of my favourate sham songs angels with dirty faces. Also, unlike thier first album tell us the truth, theres a mixture of music styles from the acoustic everybodys wrong everybodys right, the reggae on the pick up tracks and obviously the hard punk from the rest.

This is a truly superb Ramones box set of 3 CD's and one DVD, and whilst the music is at the forefront of every release by any band, (of course), the packaging, (considering how many elaborate box sets have been released to date), is exceptional, unique, and an absolute collector's piece in itself.
The shape and size of the 'Annuals' most of us had at Christmas as kids, with nice thick board covers, when opened up, the discs are set out on the right, with a housing on the left for the 'comic book.' Inside the comic book, 25 top artists have drawn The Ramones Story in their own inimitable style, and this alone is a fabulous collector's piece, but there again, this package was released by Rhino Records, and as far as I'm concerned and in my ... Teenage Warning

Recieved opinion has it that this album was patchy and disappointing and that the band promised more, and while i won't kid you it's a masterpiece it certainly has it's share of punk classics, particularly the title track, I'm An Upstart and Never Again.When the punk retrospectives are rolling this band is usually a footnote at best but for me they were the real deal; real anger suffused with a pop sensibility.At their best they rank with the greats of that era and should not be dismissed as sub-Sham headbangers or whatever nonsense the art school meeja crowd will tell you to fit their self serving agenda today.

Back In The USA

An unbelieveable album, which never outstays its 29-minute welcome. From the opening, majestic bars of "Tutti Frutti" (Jesus wept, how could anybody drum like that?) to the closing shudder of the title track, this really is an amphetamine-fuelled dance over the grave of American commercialism. Personal favourite: "High School", with its ironic chorus of "Sis Boom Bah" and the twin guitars working in perfect harmony. Smarter than the Dolls, more streetwise than Iggy, the MC5 still managed to tear themselves apart, in the days when that was what you did. By God, I miss them.

Adventure: Remastered & Expanded

as you know "adventure" is Televisions follow up to the excellent "marquee moon".
In my opinion adventure is just as good, if not better than it,s predecessor. It's definitely a more mellow sound for this LP but the song writing is excellent and the music is top quality also .With repeat listening of this album the songs start to reveal hidden depths and are really infectious.
Ironically i play "adventure" more often than "marquee moon" and i have grown to love it very much indeed.
So if have already got "marquee moon" than this cd is the perfect companion set to there ground breaking debut.
Buy it !!!!
