Apparently Siouxsie didn't like this album for years, dismissing it as too 'fussy' & sterile. Years later though she admitted the record has stood up pretty well. Personally I think it's one of her best & should really get more recognition. There are no bad songs on it (altho 'Drifter' is a bit dull for me). Gems on this record include 'Little Sister', 'Cry', 'Shadowtime' and 'Silly Thing'. Best of all though is the haunting, beautiful 'Ghost in You' - one of my favorite Banshees songs. I could almost say this is the Banshees at their most romantic without it detracting from their overall sound. Superb.

I bought this Damned album back in around 1987 on it first release on TAPE, it made me fall in Love with The Damned, now I have put on the top of my xmas list from my kids on cd.

Recieved opinion has it that this album was patchy and disappointing and that the band promised more, and while i won't kid you it's a masterpiece it certainly has it's share of punk classics, particularly the title track, I'm An Upstart and Never Again. When the punk retrospectives are rolling this band is usually a footnote at best but for me they were the real deal; real anger suffused with a pop sensibility. At their best they rank with the greats of that era and should not be dismissed as sub-Sham headbangers or whatever nonsense the art school meeja crowd will tell you to fit their self serving agenda today.
Release Date December 23, 1999
This is a GOOD compilation. It gives you an idea of what this band was all
about ,covering all their phases and also Sages' own work.I admit that my
choises would have been slightly different in some cases but that's just my opinion. But please don't stop here-there are so much more to discover
in their whole line of work.Top honors for the ones responsible for including the very hard to find "No solution" and "My vengeance" in this.
I would buy this record for these two songs only."My vengeance" redefines
the term "dynamite".Hear it loud and your world will never be
the same again...

Like those cheesy new bank and car ads? Wanna know where the tunes came from? Feel old and depressed watching the last vestiges of alt culture being sold down the river? That's the New Amerikan Century for yer kids. Most of The Ramones are dead for crying out loud.. The once cool kids from college are now pimping for Saatchi. Its 'The End of the Century.'
This is the real thing, the raw material. Throw out that Shite Wipes/Stwokes quirky formulaic mediocrity. Buy this record, help Iggy gas up the Rolls Royce and go tooling around Miami beach in his old age, Lord knows he deserves it.. A f@ck off classic record from the days when. 'Its good in the jungle..'

The greatest rock and roll album ever made. With the standard makeup of vocals, guitar, bass, and drums, The Gun Club stripped away the fluffy production of the 70s that had infected even LA Punk bands and reached through the fog of corn whisky to the very swamp culture of depravity that inspired rock and roll in the first place. This is the album Panther Burns and Alex Chilton hoped to record, but never approached, and only the Cramps ever become a worthy satellite of. This is the Elvis we all always knew was underneath the jumpsuit when he said his backup singers "smell like catfish." Let us hold in abeyance the current faux-worship of Jeffrey Lee Pierce that has become a pedestrian given for dead rock figures. On the internet he has been elevated ... Read More:

A top quality re-issue of the superb NMTB.
Just like the original, which sells for over £200 now, the LP comes with the poster and one sided 7" of sub-mission. The package itself is sealed, so if you want you can keep it that way for when THIS re-issue becomes collectable.
Not bad for £12!
Release Date March 06, 2000
My only criticism of this majestic piece of work is that it hasn't got the original cheap red sleeve that I remember so well! What a great record, I bought it because my dreadful 70's quality tape of the vinyl was giving up the ghost. Doesn't seem quite right having it on CD as it really is a classis vinyl album. Raw, energetic, fresh, vital and totally exhillirating.Sounds like the later buzzcocks before production got a look in. On the scale of arty vs (allegedly)working class this flies the black flag for arty. Intelligent, witty, it sums up for me my punk schooldays in the 70's and the changeover from flares to drainpipes. Nostalgia certainly enhances it, but nonetheless if you are looking for a taste of original punk rock away from the London scene this ... Read More:

The Ramones were trendsetters for the punk rock movement, having issued three records already when John Lydon hadn't even thought of naming himself Johnny Rotten. This cd features the 30 greatest tracks of Joey, Johnny, Dee Dee, Tommy, Marky and Richie and has over 75 minutes running time. And they're all there: "Blitzkrieg bop", "I wanna be sedated", "Teenage lobotomy", "Sheena is a punkrocker", all the songs you think of when hearing the name "Ramones". Absolutely recommended if you want your record collection to be complete. Hail to the true kings of three-accord punk pop!
Release Date August 01, 1988
The Stranglers produced three albums in quick succession. 'Rattus Norvegicus', their first, was liked by much of the music media in 1977, while a few short months later saw the release of 'No More Heroes' - an album that was less favourably reviewed, but which, at the same time, led to The Stranglers charting with several of its tracks. Then, in 1978 came 'Black and White'. While the feel of the album was undeniably 'Strangleresque', the power of J.J.Burnell's bass guitar, the subtle weaving of Dave Greenfield's synth, the merciless pounding of Jet Black's drums and the distorted, overdriven - yet somehow 'controlled' lead guitar of Hugh Cornwell had become almost a single entity. The result, as heard on 'Black and White' is a set of superbly crafted ... Read More:
