CRASS were the only genuine ANARHO-PUNKS who actually lived the 'punk' ideal, operating completely independently from their EPPING FOREST safe-house.

'CHRIST-the ALBUM' was released in late '82, and following their previous low-priced vinyl releases, this album [on initial release] was a radical departure, a '2-record set', lavish in presentation, housed in a fetching stark black box, costing a relatvely-high cost 5 pounds [expensive by CRASS standards].

I've been a huge fan of Chas & Dave for many years and on that basis a friend told me to get this compilation. Wow what great music and I was amazed at how many tracks I recognised. Ian Dury's lyrics are pure class, very funny and although there is a lot of swearing it really adds to it. "Mash It Up Harry" and "My Old Man" for some strange reason give me confidence in myself. This compilation has helped me re-discover my sense of humour which had sadly become misplaced as is often the case with so many people these days. If you want to hear brilliant musicianship, catchy songs and be truly uplifted then this is the one for you...

Adventure: Remastered & Expanded

as you know "adventure" is Televisions follow up to the excellent "marquee moon".
In my opinion adventure is just as good, if not better than it,s predecessor. It's definitely a more mellow sound for this LP but the song writing is excellent and the music is top quality also .With repeat listening of this album the songs start to reveal hidden depths and are really infectious.
Ironically i play "adventure" more often than "marquee moon" and i have grown to love it very much indeed.
So if have already got "marquee moon" than this cd is the perfect companion set to there ground breaking debut.
Buy it !!!!

I don't like every single track on this album but those I do like are impossible to tire of, and for this reason alone the album deserves the full whack of 5 stars. It is also, in my opinion, definitely one of the best albums in Pop's portfolio. From the moment Pleasure fire's off at the album's arrogantly vivacious tangent it becomes clear that this man means business. Was Iggy ever on the Muppet Show? Sincerity sure sounds like he and the furry gloves are having a good old knees-up. "I'm going to get a beer, but I will return my dear"... Mr Pop must certainly have had fun with this recording.

29-29 Split Vision

This is the Subhumans album (if you can call it that - it's very short) that always left me undecided whether or not I enjoy it. 21 years later and I still don't know! First of all, like all the early Subhumans releases, it's let down by thin production. 29:29 Split Vision is a little too bright and, as usual, lacking bottom end. That's not a major problem if you don't mind adjusting your tone controls. The previous album "Worlds Apart" sounds much better, so I am quite surprised that the mix engineer allowed this one through without anyone complaining and heading right back to the studio.

TV Eye: 1977 Live

Terrific live album of this intractable musician. Iggy Pop can hardly be surpassed in fierceness and intensity. He behaves like a hurt wild animal that has been urged into narrowness and now beats out blindly. Whereas the studio versions of the songs are already quite fast, the pace on these live versions is just breathtaking. I don't want to highlight any single songs. They are all excellent. By the way, on piano is David Bowie who also has written some songs together with Iggy Pop.

Jeff Bateman's reductive and oh, so clever assessment of this compilation does a disservice not only to the music on the cd, but to the very idea of Wire. He's probably the kind of guy who made faces when Wire did Chairs Missing after Pink Flag, and after Chairs Missing turned his nose up at 154. He ought to be subjected to Document&Eyewitness in a room for several decades. Wire have always moved on, and to want them to be a retro-impersonation of their Harvest-selves demonstrates a severe lacking in the notion of punk and Wire...
