i love music. i listen and buy it all the time. every few years something blows you away. "one love" did just that. a love song that is heartfelt without manufactured sugar or sentimentality. i am amazed this was not a hit single . everyone i play it to loves it. in a way i am glad. it remains fresh and mine. robbie williams contribution is excellent .great work without the hype that normally folows him and distracts from the music.

Siouxsie and the Banshees really came into their own as soon as John McKay and Kenny Morris bailed out and two new, inimitable recruits came in to play; drummer and new co-composer Budgie (formerly of the Slits) and guitarist John McGeoch, the latter freshly departed from terrific post-punk band Magazine, helped give the formerly monochrome severity of the Banshees sound a new freshness and colour that they hadn't even attempted to tap into before. What's so striking about Kaleidoscope, as soon as it starts, is its lusciousness; the spidery guitars of "Happy House" are seductively melodic and the off-kilter, slightly angular ... Read More:

An English-based band composed mostly of foreign nationals, The Count Bishops made some of the most frenetic and exciting R&B of the 1970s. I've waited for years for a CD release containing their "Speedball" EP and was therefore delighted to discover this item on Amazon. The first four tracks comprise the original EP and the remaining eleven tracks are a pleasant surprise as I didn't know they existed.
The obvious criticism is that the choice of material has been worn down to the bones by many other bands and there seems to be a particular preference for Chuck Berry. I can live with that though when the versions are this exciting. Their cover of "Route 66" is my favourite of the several I've heard and "Beautiful Delilah" features a ... Read More:

The Jam remain timeless, believe it. Another wave of college students embrace their music as if it were theirs to own, these people who have lost faith in the endless 3-chord pap provided by yet another dull oasis album are going for the real thing. Whatever The Jam were (are) they stand for everything that is exciting about life. This neatly packaged collection of their hit singles is interesting because of it's b-sides, like it's predecessor "singles 77-79" everything is included from the original releases, with the added bonus of the cd-rom videos as well. The music has never been in doubt and it is difficult to select any stand out tracks from a collection that boasts some of the hottest singles ever released as well as quite simply the best b-sides ... Ignored and mocked in a time of poodle rockers The Ramones returned to the trenches to record this their 11th(!)studio LP.It's a solid effort with some classic Ramoments. On the plus side, there's the single Pet Sematary,Joey's fabulous Come Back,Baby (up their with his best ballady moments) and the thrashy Learn To Listen. What lets the record down is a tendency to be a little po'faced.I Believe in Miracles and Punishment Fits the Crime, while servicable enough, are lacking in the humour that seemed effortless on their earlier albums. The production doesn't suit the band either. The drums sound like they were recorded in an aircraft hangar.Still in a time of Poison,Motley Crue and the like this record at the time reaffirmed to us believers what rock'n'roll was all about.Worth ... This was the second album from the re-activated Wire. "The First Letter" though very good, was tentative and slightly unsure of itself. No problem with "A Bell Is A Cup....". This is Wire at their best. Mixing a supreme pop sensibility with their angular, sharp arrangements. The guitars are all choppy and incisive, the drumming precise. Their use of electronics and synthetic sounds adds a soft, sumptuous sheen which contrasts nicely against the abrasive riffing guitars.
At the time this album and the others they did during this period were overshadowed by their 70's albums, "Pink Flag, "Chairs Missing" and "154". Those albums were important as they showed how a band could quickly develop from producing a punk classic to mixing psychedelia and more experimental ideas ... Read More:

If you're expecting a well produced record packed full of classics like the Pistols debut then you're in for a disappointment. If you just wanna hear Sid rocking out in all his raw unrehearsed glory then this is the record for you. The choice of covers is superb (New York Dolls, Ramones, Stooges and even the Pistols themselves) but the sound quality does occasionally let it down. The performance is rough but rocking though the backing singer on a couple of the tracks sings so flat you just wanna punch him. The 'production' (?!) is at points so bad it's laughable but none of this should detract from the fact that it's still a classic of it's genre and an important and fascinating piece of the Sex Pistols history.
