This album is the psychedelic heebie jeebie that marks the end of the darker first phase of the stranglers. They plumb depths of obscurity here, its not uplifting in the slightest, and many may hate this, but it has quirky acid-soaked moments which, when they work, almost make you believe this was a successful experiment. themeninblack doesn't always sound good, for every thundering track like "Thrown Away" there is a painful "Just Like Nothing on Earth" - but it's a fantastic effort, at times echoing early pink floyd and shows a lot of musical ambition which unfortunately dried up a bit from then on.

Neil Diamond was asked, via producer Ron Hitchcock, to write a love song for the band. Surprisingly nothing materialised! (Think l'm glad about that).
They had no boundaries, everything was up for their version of the song.
In some ways as l have said before you could say they were similar to
The Ramones, but l would also say the speed of Wire's Pink Flag, wasn't far behind, though far more serious, aside many Punks didn't like Wire.

Debut album (and the best by far ) from one of the finest UK82 thrash-crust-chaos hardcore british acts.Barb wired guitars so jagged and trebley sounding you will cut yourself with.Vocals buried in the mix.Chaotic and relentless drumming.Not suitable for people with weak ears or refined tastes.Not a 2 lp on 1 cd affair as advertised but an lp and a 5 tracker ep as bonus tracks.The sound is excellent to boot !! Worth every penny.But maybe you might want to start by checking out ¨Complete Disorder¨ ,a collection of early ep's and singles,which is just as good but in a different,sloppier vein.If you want it tighter,I'd dare suggest you have a look into their most recent cd's as they're still recording to date !!!

This is a good cd containing alot of Sensible's work on vocals which are nice and it contains some brilliant songs such as lovely money and alternate versions to thanks for the night and disco man.Worth your money I think.
